Ok, so I'm a pretty patient guy. That would explain why this is my first "rant" and not my billionth. I'm tired you guys. I'm tired of agents crying "oh the market is so bad" or "oh the market is damaged" or "down" or "damned", or some other "D" words that I just can't think of right now! Well I'm here to say it's none of those! It's a "Different" market, nothing else! Nowhere in the job description of a Realtor does it say "You shall list and sell properties with ease", nowhere are we guaranteed to be pampered through out our career. Frankly, I'm glad that our job became a little bit more difficult. It weeded out a lot of competition for me!
*Deep breath in, and relax*
(I keep having to remind myself that I'm trying to open eyes, not bruise them)
Maybe my harsh opinion towards those who are struggling in this new work environment, has stemmed from my lack of knowledge of any other environment. I got in this game in the middle of this "mortgage meltdown". So it has been hard work from the start. But according to what I hear from other agents... I should have dropped out long ago! I shouldn't have made it! Yet here I am, doing better than ever! And guess what folks, I'm 21 years old! Even younger when I started. I don't HAVE a "sphere of influence", Let me see here, it's 7:45 am... Most of my sphere won't be waking up for another 4 or 5 hours and will still be hung over from the raging keg party held on campus the night before (an exaggeration? I think not!)... Look this isn't the point. And I'm not trying to direct a spotlight onto myself. I expected hard work, and expected to do well, and I didn't settle for anything less than that.
Maybe it will help some people if we just lay the facts out...
I like to think of it like a game, a business strategy game.
Game Description:
- Over here (I'm holding up my left hand) we have the Bank, with an abundance of products that they are selling for a low low price, and are being difficult about it.
- Over here (towards the far end of my imaginary game board) we have an abundance of angry people with a product that isn't worth what they thought it was (because the bank is selling for so low), but they still need to sell it... and if they don't sell it before the buzzer rings, they no longer own it and the bank does.
- Over here (my right, your left if you're facing your computer) we have a precious group of people, lets just call them "Buyers", these "Buyers" want a better deal on these products, than the already amazing deal they will be getting if they purchase at list price.
