Doing the money dance!

By
Real Estate Agent with Raleigh Cary Realty

Do not get me wrong.  I am not some wealthy Realtor who is doing some type of dance with my fortunes I have amassed.  I have a business I am trying to run and financial decisions to make.

This is about that time of the year everyone goes through when they have not made all of those buyers and sellers dreams come true that they planned, in fact you don't even know where to find those people.

It does not seem to matter how well I HAD been doing for the year or a certain period of time there is some period where I begin to wonder...   A period where my business, more importantly my budget, is just not what it has been averaging.

And you would think since my business has grown and I have a team I don't have to worry about that anymore right?  Unfortunately NO, that is just more financial obligations you have made to more people.

You know to never dwell on it, move on, and keep working on helping the next person...  but your human.  And more importantly you have a budget, that you make business decisions on and those are based off of an average income in a certain time and if it is not happening you have to plan accordingly.  You do not exactly forget about it.

So you begin the dance!  Not a rain dance unless you need that too, but the MONEY DANCE where you call all of those people who had been thinking about it but haven't decided to yet and you and the team are suddenly paying more attention to any opportunity that walks, emails or calls your way.

Somehow, as soon as we do the phone starts ringing and people are buying and selling homes.  AGAIN.

Funny how that works.  People always have to have a place to live.

So here is until the next time I begin to wonder:)

George - YEP! The general public doesn't know to stop and think about the expenses we incur to remain in the real estate business in these...umm...slow times.  On my website I have a link to an article written a few years ago (slightly outdated but still valid) which helps the public understand the expenses which are a part of our day to day.  I don't want to hijack your post, so if you're interested just go to my website to the links at the bottom, "Where Does That Commission Go". The author was very amenable to the reprint. Hang in, the best is yet to come :-)

George,

You are so right.  It is expensive being in this business.  I once wrote a report which detailed why some Realtors would not be 100% with their clients.  The bottom line was.....they needed to make the commission because it was expensive to be in business.  But keep your head up and keep doing the right thing and YOU will win in the end.

Have a great day

Kevin- It applies to a lot of professons doesn't it.

Gail- Thanks for the info I will check out the site.  P.S. How would that be Hi-Jacking a post.  Should you not put a link to something relevant.

Leander- Thanks for visiting and the comments.

You forgot to mention all those "salesman" who keep telling us that by buying 1000 pens, at only $2 each, we would be overrun with new clients!

Good idea to put an artilce on your website about where the money goes Gail. I'll check it out.

Hi George - hmmmm...my comment disappeared, I'll try again.  I used the word hijack quite loosely ;-)  Some people don't mind linking, others do, depending on the relevancy of the link to the post!  In this case, since I'm using an article reprinted with permission, I felt better just directing you to my website.  Plus I didn't want to take your readers away from you and bring them to my site.  Hope this makes sense.

Got you, as a newbie, I posted one of my blogs on someone else's in the comments because it was relevant, and you made me wonder if I did something wrong.

Thank you!

George, we all do the money dance...okay, at least we do. Even with a team you can't guarantee anything. I use to always get annoyed when my broker was competing with me. But, I've grown up a little and I realize that there is just one great big bunch of competition. No one out there offers to open the door for you. We're all in this on our own.

Now, they say (whoever they are) that what goes up must come down...but does that mean it will go back up? I guess if we pay attention to the ones that say, "history repeats itself." I'm rambling now but I truly enjoy posts that get me going. Thanks. Later in the rain~Deb

I think the money dance is very important to do and the more it rains money the better, because I hear you need that to get the money tree to grow in the backyard.
