Brea's downtown area on Birch Street is well known for eateries, fine dining and great eats. The Carvao Grill a South American steakhouse is one of my personal favorites.  My last trip was for lunch a few weeks ago on what I call "earthquake day", July 29. Immediately after the shaker my power was out at the office and at home, so what else was there to do but have lunch?

Then I received a cell call from fellow Rainer Marlene Bridges making sure things were good in Brea, it felt like we were sitting on top the epicenter although it was next door in beautiful Chino Hills.

We met  in downtown since they still were up and running with power. We had an outstanding lunch at the Carvao Gill on Birch Street.  There's indoor and outdoor dinning to choose from. The proprietor Piaggio (aka Coli) waw born and raised in Argentina He's also the perfect host. I took this photo of him out in front of his restaurant one day during the Brea Farmer's Market held on Tuesdays.  As for my lunch the serving  size was so large it Brea Carvao Grillbecame my dinner the next day.

Then  to our nice surprise  Coli sent us over a  very special dessert.

If you're looking for a wonderful place of lunch or dinner in Brea try the Carvao Grill, check out their menu here.

Oh just in case you were wondering, yes there is a full bBrea Carvao Grill-Chadar. And Chad to the right make a great martini. And no, it wasn't for lunch.

So give it a try, you won't be disappointed!  Oh, how about dinner at a movie?  You know the Carvao is just across the street from the Edwards Theaters.  Save your movie ticket and get a discount on dinner at Caravo, what deal!

It's interesting to know Caravo means charcoal in Portuguese ~ It describes a ways food is grilled in Argentia and Brazil. You will love it!

Lynda - learning about new restaurants and trying them out is a favorite pasttime of mine, being the foodie that I am. The good deals with great food are the places that are most fun to share with others, as you have done. Great localism post.

Lynda....great job on localism....Uhmmmm....would like to come for a visit and dine here. We are becoming roving reporters and now I want to travel to all parts of the country to experience the local wonders we are being introduced to. A visit would be nice! Keeping that thought!

Lynda, I like your new photo. AND about earthquakes? I was in California during the 1971 and the 1997? earthquakes....in the San Fernando Valley. It was awful.....now I'm back in Arizona where the earth doesn't move, at least not yet. ;-)

As for your restaurant? Sounds wonderful. LOVE good food and Farmer's Markets. ;-)

Hi Bill & Teri ~ Thanks for dropping by.

Jeff ~ You're the best at this, I'm taking a lesson from all your great visits.

Hi Jeanean ~ Ha, you're right about the roving reporter stuff. I've learned so much from others across the US about interesting places in their cities. And your area of Shasta Co. is no exception.

Mana ~ This one is a goodie, next time you're in the OC please let me know!

Hey Buddy,

That was a wonderful meal.  And, like you, I took half of my meal home as well.  The food is very special and the service couldn't have been better.  What a great find Carvao is.  I can't wait till my next trip to Brea!
