BLOG TIPS, THINGS NO ONE TOLD ME

  • Blog entries should start a conversation. Common ground that numerous people can discuss.
  • Find something that would be of interest to the group of people. Stay on track.
  • Headlines bring the readership to you and readers will use the RSS feed to find you.
  • Readers do not like long winded blogs. They want something they can scan over and pick up the areas theymight go back to. So make key points within the blog.
  • Always link to to the context of someone's elses thoughts and comments.
  • If you have read someone elses blog and you find their point well said, do not cut and paste it, rather write your words on your blog. You can link their blog to yours for another prosepctive.
  • No one wants a long winded document. Stay focused.
  • Never delete anything, including comments. Unless they are spam. Keep your blog clean of unwanted items.
  • Check out what others are say. Use tools like Google Blog Search and Technorati to track what other bloggers are saying about your blog entry and update your blog with links to those conversations if they add to yours.ing.
  • Comment on the comments you receive. Be involoved in your Blog.
  • Create a Buzzzzzzzz.

Most of all have fun with this. Blogging can be educational, professional and fun.

Nancy,

I had not heard of Google Blog Search and Technorati. I will have to look into something else new.

One more thing.

Thanks,

I sure do agree with you about the "long winded blog posts."  Nothing is more aggravating than to start reading a blog and lost interest because of the length.
