Balboa Island Luxury Homes

Newport Beach, California

Balboa Island is divided into three islands. There is the main island which has over 1100 homes, the Little Island which is located across the Grand Canal has over 200 homes. And Collins Island which is located of the main Island has 8 homes. The streets of Balboa Island  jadeare named after Semi-precious stones including Jade, Onyx, Sapphire, and Coral which creates more charm in the area.

A great way to visit the island is to take the Balboa Island ferry. There are three 64 foot ferries, that have the capacity to carry three automobiles. Also bicyclists and pedestrians can ride for a fee as well. The ferry drivers are very skilled, especially during the summer months when Newport Harbor can be incredibly busy with the Newport Harbor boat traffic.  It is a great way to travel from the Peninsula to the Island and enjoy the beauty of the Newport Harbor on the brief journey.ferry

Balboa Island has both bay front homes and interior homes. There is a quaint village on the main island that is located on Marine Avenue - enjoy shops, dining, and during the summer months there is an art festival. Many of the island residents travel around via golf carts. It is a great way to start the day by walking around the island, and many visitors and residents begin their day by walking or jogging around the island.

Sharon, what a quaint three places to live. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. If you live on Collins Island you could definitely say it was a secluded area.

So, how much does it cost to take the ferry now? When I lived on the Balboa Peninsula, it used to cost a quarter. A dime for pedestrians.

Kim, This certainly brings back memories.  I lived on Balboa Island and my Office was in Fashion Island back in the 1980's.   I left Newport Beach, CA back in 1990.  My how real estate prices have changed!

Hey Pam, We must have lived there at the same time. I also left (after 14 years) in 1990. My office was on Newport Center Drive in Fashion Island. How weird, huh?

I lived on the Balboa Peninsula. My favorite haunts, besides the Fun Zone, was the Beach Ball and the Studio Café.
