Chris Ann: What a fabulous Localism post, Chris Ann. Every post you write further establishes you as the Number One Expert to call Great Falls, Bristow, and the surrounding area. Way to go !
As I am typing this... I see to the right that you have a listing in Chantilly, VA. It reminds me of when I lived in the area... I was in a women's bowling league at Chantilly Lanes... I wonder if it is still there. We, of course, named our league... Chantilly Lace. It was so fun... although it was perhaps seventeen years ago. Wow... time goes by so quickly. :)
Karen Anne - You lived in Chantilly? 17 years ago it was just becoming accepted as part of the DC area and Centreville was the new boonies. I feel like I know (or should know) Chantilly Lanes.......was it off 50?
Tchaka: No, I lived in Alexandria, off Little River Turnpike near 395. I was selling new townhouses in Centerville at Crofton Commons for Winchester Homes, and had a friend ask me to join her at Chantilly Lanes... and yes, I think it was right on 50. (Thanks, Chris Ann)
Trey: I love this park, but I do live a bit furher out now.
Karen Anne: I am glad that you enjoyed this post...and that the listing brought back some good memories. I don't know Chantilly Lanes, but there is a bowling alley in Centreville that used to be called Fair Lanes. Twenty years or more ago I remember that was a frequent stop for my friends and I.
Chris Ann, what a beautiful area, it reminds me of the lakes region of New Hampshire. I should get up there to visit, I'm only a few hours away.
Debbie: It's a nice spot...and not something that you normally think of for our DC Metro area.
Chris Ann,
This is an incredible park once you actually get to it. I took dozens of pictures. It's fun to walk along the rocks also.
Steve
Chris Ann, It is an extremely lovely park - people find it hard to believe we have that much white water close to DC, Art
Chris Ann: In response to the above comment: See... you've got your very own "white water"... and Bush/Cheney have their very own "BlackWater !" Unfortunately, there is quite a difference between the two. Once again, Chris Ann... great pictures... I would love to spend a day there... it looks so relaxing.
Oh what a great park thanks for the memories. I used to live in Loudoun county ( actually still have my VA license. ) I miss VA this time of year. Great post!
Art: The glossy photos of the Potomac are what most people think of when they think of the river and DC.
Karen Anne: You are welcome to come out anytime. I'd be thrilled to hang out with you.
Shannon: It is a great park. You should come back and visit some time.
Chris Ann-
I have been to Great Falls several times when I was living in Ashburn, Va. The park is particular interesting to shoot during the regular floods in the spring. Take care.
Bryant: That thought never would have crossed my mind. Thanks!
This is the perfect time of year to take a long stroll in Great Falls. I think I need to pull out my hiking boots and head out.
I see I need to make some updating to this photos. I like having borders around them now.
