I've seen how Active Rain can help real estate agents but I was curious about appraisers.  Have you had success in getting work from Active Rain?

Is the fact that nobody has responded indicate that you don't get work from Active Rain?  I would like to hear success stories for appraisers so they can share their secrets to Active Rain success!

Hi Tom -

Dawn wrote a similar blog here.  I have made several business contacts which have turned into orders as well as met some great people through AR.  How about yourself?

Sara,

I'm kind of new to Active Rain but have enjoyed the blogging and reading others view on things.  I have not made any contacts yet but hope to.  I concur with Dawn though in that its enjoyable none the less.

I used to get a lot of "Value checks" from Realtors and brokers from Active Rain however have not had any real work/clients!  How unfortunate that is!

I've only been active for several months but have numerous assignments directly attributed to ActiveRain as well as networking which is developing into additional work.  One tip I saw a while back was to comment and follow the blogs of your potential clients.  Translate - as much as I like exchanging thoughts and experiences with appraisers, I need to be following the mortgage bankers, FHA, Reverse Mortgage, and Attorney groups.

Richard,

Thanks for the input.  I've seen your ideas suggested in a couple of other blogs.  I'm going to zero in on my potential clients like you suggest and see how that  works.

Tom,

I've gotten steady and decent work from both LSI and STARS which are AMC's but pay reasonably well and consistently.  STARS pays at 30 days but you can bank on it while LSI pays twice monthly.  STARS just sent a fee schedule for standard reports per county and, believe it or not, I got a raise for some reports over what I would typically charge.  I don't like 30 days but once you've got a cycle set, checks come out twice a week.
