Many people when looking at repairing thier credit do not understand many of the rules when it comes to collection of debts. With many debts there are statute of limitations place on the collection of those debts. Some people with a credit card debt 6 years old, may have a collection agency trying to collect on that debt. If the debt is beyond the statute of limitations, the collection agency may not have the right to collect that debt. Some states have a 3 year SOL on credit cards. Listed below are the statute of limitations in years from each of the 50 states. This info may be helpful when trying to get negative info deleted from your clients credit file.
