Running Rainers Miami Marathon Mingle

By
Real Estate Agent with Real Estate

Quite often my eyes will catch the word RUNNING in a blog title so of course I click to see what it's all about.  A few months ago a title of interest really hit me when I saw  "Be a Running Realtor" since I began branding myself as the Running Realtor shortly after discovering the Active Rain Real Estate Network.

Pat Murray - Naples Running RealtorThe post happened to be authored by a relatively new blogger, Pat Murray of Naples Florida, who is planning to run her first Marathon in Miami on January 25, 2009 and was looking for other real estate professionals that might want to participate in the event.Dan Cummings - Running Realtor in 2007 Hartford Half Marathon

Fast forwarding a few months as fate would have it I wound up stranded on Fort Myers Beach for a week so I had an opportunity to run with Pat.  Although she says she is "not a runner" she pushed the pace in the early morning heat and humidity of Florida and told me the weather conditions we ran in were nothing like what would be expected on race day.  January in Miami has an average low temp of 60 and highs in the mid-70's.  Very nice running conditions for me and a great break from the winter conditions in New England.

I haven't committed to running Miami yet but it is being considered.  After running my first 26.2 mile event in San Diego on June 1st with the Team in Training one of my coaches noticed my photo was being used to publicize the Hartford Marathon so I figured I should run that event in October.  I was planning a little break after 40 weeks of continuous training but maybe I will look into a 3 week rest and a condensed training program to prepare for Miami.

Marathon training typically involves a 16-20 week program so if you would like to Mingle in Miami with other Active Rain Real Estate Pro's now it the time to start thinking about it.

Dan Cummings - ActiveRain Running RealtorWho knows.... If we get enough support maybe we can plan an Active Rain Running Realtor event every year.  Not sure if we should go for custom shirts though,  I wore one once and appropriately got Rained On.....

Sandra...   Your treat this time?

George... Poster boy isn't bad but since I was in the flyer I figured I should run the marathon... Logging many more miles than anticipated this year.

Vickie... Active Rain was helpful in getting me thinking about revitalizing my marketing material and everything fell into place nicely with my running.  Thinks it is one of my better branding and plan to stick with it.

Mana... Were you glued to the TV when I was out your way?  Not sure if Miami will make the west coast airwaves.

Bill... Wife beaters actually a terrible name for those shirts... When I first joined AR Sardi used to use that term all the time and I never knew what he was talking about...

Suzanne.... I heard Realtor's are tight with the pennies these days, don't think the shirts would sell.

Beth... 10k a bit of running, You should come out to Philly next month I'll do the running and watch you do the wet tee shirt contest!

Susie...  I'm still on the fence about Miami but the thought of escaping for a week away from New England in the winter sounds good.

Teri... The October Marathon is in Hartford so it should be cool.. Miami is in January, I nice get away from the cold!

Judy... Chicago is also an October Marathon so maybe next year I skip Hartford and try a run in the windy city.

Tracy... I've heard from a few people that Miami is a nice one!  Thought I'd be taking a rest after Hartford and I'm not exactly enthusiastic about training during the holiday season but I'll decide shortly after finishing the October Marathon if I'm up for another in January.

Michael...I just did my first marathon this year and my second is coming up in the fall.  Miami would be #3 if I go for it.

Susie... That warm air would feel nice after a few months of New England winter.

Daniel... I know several people in a similar position that can no longer run for a variety of reasons.  Hopefully you can find another activity that provides the physical and mental benefits of running.

Mike... With the way my knee feels today I'm not sure I'll be up for a third marathon in January.

Grace... Very Observant!  As I recall I had just passed a large group of people while we were on that somewhat congested path through a park and I saw the photographer pop out for a photo.  Must have had the camera on rapid fire to get the thumbs up.....

Hey Dan... you didn't get authorization for the photo :) ---

What do you mean, you haven't committed yet????? A weekend down in Miami in Jan... how cool would that be?

Isn't it funny -- none of the respondence didn't seem to get inspired? Ha.

Got my training log in my hand right now... boy, do I have a lot of work to do... pretty bad when my long runs start at 6 miles..... that used to be my every day run. I have to advance and stay committed to really get up to speed. Will keep you posted.

Pat

Pat...  You must not be properly tuned into me telepathically!   I asked if you'd have any problem with my adding a little publicty to your marathon mingle and since I didn't receive a No I ran with it....

My long runs up to 16 miles and the thought of starting all over so soon to gear up for Miami is tough.  I did commit to joining the Team in Training Mentor program this season so I will be running and offering guidance to people getting ready for the Disney Marathon so that will prep me for Miami.

Dan... I run with you daily... because my mind is always running.  There is another saying, but that wouldn't be good if I said it to you... lol  Seriously though, this sounds great. If you make it down there, have a great time.  And yes, there are many Rainers down in that area to meet up with. But I have heard that you will be running in Philly in a few weeks?  No hello?   Well, maybe I will see you, but not in Philly.  ;o)

Jeff... We talked about Philly a few months ago.... Since that is the one you've been training for I figured the date was etched into your mind.

Dan... yea, we talked about it, but that was like back in April or so....  in any case, I will probably see you and Sandra then...  but I won't be running, that's for sure.

Are you photoshopping yourself back into running montages? Geez, man. Go back to wearing a hole in that curduroy couch or shooting a bee-bee gun at the dogs down the street. Next you'll be doing Powerade commercials.

Gooby..... No photoshopping there, cropped right out of this year's flyer.  As you may recall I wasn't armed with a BB gun it was a Flip Video!  Now crawl back in your hole with Fat Sally.....

Gooby.... I've never been the touchy type, all facts so I was just dispelling any rumor of a photo-shopped image before it gets started.
