This is the weekend I've been dreading and looking forward to.

My middle child is off to High Point University in North Carolina, Just a few weeks agostarting his freshman year.  The past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of shopping and planning and get togethers and send-offs for my son.

As a parent it is a thrilling and tough time wI miss him alreadyatching your child pack up his gear and make the move so far from home.

I know from past experience it gets a little easier with each year they go back to school, but right now it's a little tough.

Now my daughter will get to experience the bliss(?) of having Mom and Dad all to herself until her brothers come home.

Where's he putting all this stuff! We get to focus all of our attention on her.  Somehow she doesn't see this as a good thing.

I hope my son doesn't mind my plans for his bedroom- my ironing board now has a room of it's own.

Lisa, That day was AWFUL for me--so were the days just after it!  You're so proud of you child and it's so difficult to let go....let us know how it went (I did NOT cry until I was well away from my kids :)

Carole~ I've got a lot of supportive friends, who just like me, sent their child off to their first year, so that made it a little easier.  You're tougher than I am, I couldn't hold back the tears!

I can only imagine how hard it is for your son to leave home.  I know you must be really proud of him.  Hang in there!

Lisa, I cried when my kids started kindergarten for heaven's sake.....Now I'm okay...they are parents too, and I hear their same reactions I had when they were growing up. ;-)

Lisa, It's AWFul when the youngest leaves the nest!  Enjoy your daughter now, she'll be off on her own far too soon---and where did all the time go??

I just got my daughter off to college, leaving our 9th grader HOME ALONE with his parents.  He said he feels like an aid at an assisted living center.  Funny kid!  I have been missing my daughter tons this week, I guess it's nice to know that I'm normal!

It will get easier with time! You will know you are passed it when you change the kids room into a sewing room....then before you know it, you are setting up baby beds for the Grandchildren; this is when the fun begins! Best Wishes!
