When selling your home it is important that NO ROOM goes unnoticed. When buyers come to view your home it is important that you leave them with a lasting impression. It is wonderful thing that you have put a fresh coat of paint on the walls and you made a galant effort to remove the clutter, BUT SOMETIMES YOU CAN TAKE THAT A BIT TOO FAR....

In this guest bathroom the sellers made sure to declutter the space and clean the tub, tiles and sink. They then painted the bathroom, which is a lovely, calming blue. But as you can see, there is NOTHING that draws you into the space. In this case TOO MUCH WAS REMOVED...

You will see that by adding a large floral piece and some rolled towels that space now comes to life and draws you in. the rubber ducky in the box was removed, and a basket filled with towels and a hanging robe (which you cannot see) were added to the shelf. This bath is now ready to welcome your guests. It is a small fix that will take your guest bathroom from BLAH to AHH..Staging your home for sale does NOT have to be complicated. Agreed....our staged bathrooms have towels, shapely soap, decorative shower curtains, candles, flowers....depends...the transformation can be amazing....and enhances one of the more expensive rooms to update as well.

There's 'decluttering' but some folks go to 'naked as a jaybird' and that's no good either.  Your touches above are just enough.  Isn't nice to be good at your job?

Perfect!   Sterile is not welcoming.  It true, DIY can go too far with the depersonalizing.  It only takes small touches, as your pic demonstrates, to bring a room to life.   Nice job.

Bathrooms are the cheapest to stage and so easy and quick.  Not worth it to leave them unstaged, for the little that they cost.  The plant adds "life" to the room.  Nice job.

Hi Phyllis!

Such simple, small changes make for such a large impact when staging a house!  You know that I just love your work!

A professional, such as yourself, can quickly assess what changes need to be made to a room in order to give it that 'wow' factor that draws buyers in.

Happy Staging!

Great example Phyllis. Now that bathroom shows a buyer that it has something to offer, luxury.

Phyllis,

Hey--this is Linda in North Carolina. I just discovered your blog--did not know that there were stagers blogging on Active Rain. I am a realtor but I just took the staging course last week. I am hoping that it will help me to get some liistings sold. Of course, I have a lot to learn and I have a lot of posts to read here, hoping they will be educational. Thanks a bunch.

Phyllis, I like to roll towels too. It is so easy once you learn how. But they still look glamourous like hotel luxury.

Great Job...they took the term de-clutter alittle far didn't they ????

In the before pictures my eyes were just drawn to the toothbrush holder and whatever the other little thing was.  I couldn't even notice the rest of the bathroom for looking at those tiny, out of proportion things. Now with the flowers and towels, everything looks much more pleasant.

Sorry. The two symbols of the Republican Party: an elephant, and a big fat white guy who is threatened by change. I am from France and now teach English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "On the general mistreatment, the hair far causes the patents he or she had been powdering from surgery and naturally travels off all of his or her hair."
