Summer's winding down, school here officially starts next week, and football practices are heating up...!!!
SUMMER IS WINDING DOWN
As the August evening shadows lengthen, and the twilight air adopts a cool edge, there are those who wait for this time of year to close on a home purchase...what with the beginning of a new school year, the end of summer vacations, and the attempt of many to 'conclude' the year on a positive note! Get out and enjoy this optimum weather period...fresh air is as important to our health as good nutrition...!
SCHOOL IS OPEN
I know school starts are a local phenomenon...just like real estate and title insurance!...
Traffic will pick up...school buses will return to the landscape...children may be apprehensive about starting a new grade or entering a new school...drive carefully, and affirm those kids in their endeavors as much as possible...they're our greatest assets, and getting them off to a good start can assure they have a great year!!!
FOOTBALL IS KING
Although I myself am a baseball nut, there is no doubt that football, in America, is king! And not only Pro Football, but College, semi-pro football, high school, junior high school, youth football, flag football, and even European Football (soccer)...!
Over the next few months, we will digest so much football, that by Super Bowl Sunday, we will have had our fill...most of us, that is!!! Personally, I will be enjoying watching my 10 year old and 13 year old play on their respective teams as much as I enjoy TV sports! Let's try to keep a balance...be a good fan, but don't be fanatical!!! It's only a sport! Balance, we have learned, is valuable in all our endeavors! Aim for it!
FRAN'S WEEKEND
Football practice, team pictures, watch some olympics, mow some lawn, finish up some outdoor painting, church, and...oh of course...blogging...!!!
Hi Fran!
School has started here in Miami and the tell-tale signs are everywhere! Yellow School Buses, screeching kids, and the climate is getting a bit cooler. This is one of my favorite times of the year.
Great post bud, we are still waiting for school here in Oregon....but 2 more weeks and it'll be here
Mott: Me too!!!
Travis: I'm old fashioned, but school should not start until after Labor Day!!!
Thanks, Fran
I must admit that I am very excited about the NFL season starting in a couple of weeks! Hope you have a great weekend, Fran!
Jason,
I'm still in a baseball mode, but with the kids involved in youth football I'm trying to make a graceful transition!!! Thanks, Fran
I can't wait for fall to get here. Looking forward to getting the kids back to school. This year my daughter has to pick up the bus by 7:30.
Thanks for the fall primer!!! I love this time of year. I lived in Florida for several years and was always a little homesick, but at this time of year, I got a lot homesick!!! Enjoy your weekend- sounds like it will be a busy one.
Jan: With weather like we've been having, who wants fall!!! LOL
Becky: Good 'busy'...!
Thanks, Fran
This has got to be my all time favorite time of the year. School started here nearly 3 weeks ago. We start early, but then again we get out early as well (end of May).
Weather is cooling just a tad, still in the 80's and 90's but we are getting there. Today we are just watching the weather as Fay moves though. Waiting to see how many of our trees fall over due to the winds. LOL
Thanks for the post Fran you have a way with words and I love reading your posts.
Jan,
I'm honored by your compliment, and yes, this weather is awesome!!! Thanks, Fran
I'm a huge college football fan Fran, so this is a favorite time of year for me for sure.
Fran- The girls are gearing up for soccer!! Both are playing on two teams this year so it will be interesting with Saturday's in town and Sunday's traveling- I can't wait- I love those games! Life is Good!
Barbara,
We have midget football, middle school football, and fall ball baseball...oh, and of course cheerleading!!! Too full a plate!!! Thanks, Fran
Susie,
Then you have 'wide receivers', 'prevent' defenses, 'full backs, half backs, tail backs', and 'lonesome' ends!!! LOL, Thanks, Fran
