Phelps, 23, became the best winning Olympian ever at this summer's Beijing games, winning eight gold medals to add to six previous Olympic first-place victories. He holds seven world records. Michael finally got his 8 GOLD medals in one Olympics. August 17th 2008 American team in Man 400 meter medley relay broke the world record 3 min 29 sec 34 won the Gold medals. Michael Phelps broke the record held by Mark Spitz Olympic superstar.

Michael Phelps will write a book telling the story behind his historic eight gold medal swims just in time for the holiday season, Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced Friday. In "Built to Succeed," Phelps will also cover his philosophy on training and competition, as well as his life being raised by a single mother and coping with an attention-deficit disorder, the publisher said. I watched some of his games. I just so moved to see his big grin on the podium. I am proud for him. He was labeled as too active cannot focus when he was young. His determination and help from his family and coach made him the golden boy in history.

Michael is from my home town of Baltimore.  Swimming is a great sport for boys with ADD.  Swimming is also a good sport for a single mom to get involved without going out and throwing or catching the ball,  it does take a lot of dedication and early morning swims, traveling to meets, etc.

I love the montage of pictures.  As an Ann Arborite I hope he knows we will miss seeing him around town, since I understand he is going home, and wish him the best in everything.  But, then again, anyone who would work hard enough to do what he did won't need good wishes to succeed at what comes next.  He'll just do it.

I followed his story. I just very amazed of what he did. I found on internet his mom and dad was divorced. He remarried and watched TV at his home. He declined to be interviewed. He wants the medium forcus on Michael not on him. What a dad he is.
