Here's a 30 second video of my favorite uncle telling me how much he loves me, in his own way, via video.  The video also includes my family's reaction to his loving words.

These are the first words I heard from him as I pulled into his driveway after getting lost on my way to his house.

Anthony - With a family like mine, I think "good luck" is in order.

Just kidding, wouldn't trade 'em for the world and that includes Uncle Pat.

Yes, that is love!  I have a aunt who loves me in that same manner, she is hilarious!  Have a great day!

Barbara - Yes, I can.  He is great guy and that really is his way way of saying, well, maybe not I love you but more like "I'm glad you made it, good to see you".

My whole family if very sarcastic.

What a hoot - I am sure that if Uncle Paddy were ever upset with you, you'd know it for sure and wouldn't have to pull it out of him "what he really means".

You have an adorable family!!

Brad - I'm telling uncle Patty you said that.  If you hear a knock at your door in the middle of the night - don't open it.  It might be uncle Patty out for revenge.

AL - Clearly, Uncle Pat loves you.  He's willing to paint arrows on all of the surrounding streets to help you out.  That's a lot of work!

Al, Your Uncle sounds like a great guy.  It's very close to what I would say to my favorite nephew when I see him.  LOL.

Leander - I hope you right and everyone does have someone like Uncle Patty around.  He is a great guy and you can never get "too big for your britches" with Uncle Patty around.

Bill - Why not? Let's see a few candid moments from the Gassett files.

Tracy - Thanks for your note.  I can't actually let you call me "creative".  All I did was get lost, pull in my Uncles driveway and then point the camera at him and Uncle Patty did the rest.

I think that's Uncle Patty's way of telling your dumb ass that if you visited more often you wouldn't get lost :)

Lisa - If I were you I might think the same thing.  Funny thing is, I visit him all the time.

I am that rare bird:

"The Realtor with absolutely no sense of direction who always gets lost".

I rely on my GPS for everything and have forgotten how to get anywhere without it.  No one ever accused me of being the smartest guy in the world.

Al, sorry, but you are not so rare.  If I get more than a couple of miles away from home I need a map.  I got GPS too but that girl keeps telling me that I'm "off track".

That's funny!  I named my GPS Stella.  She is a total hag with the constant "make a legal u-turn" instruction.

Cait - I was about to say you could be related to Uncle Patty given the spelling of your last name but he is on my Mom's side of the family so he is not a Donohue and Donohue may be your married name anyway.  So that would have been a dumb comment.  Not sure why I am still writing this if I already know it is dumb comment but I am too far down this road to turn back now.

I am glad you have some "Uncle Patty's" in your family.  Every family should have a few.  He is a great guy.  Salt of the earth.

I wish I had an Uncle Patty in my family!

Well my mother-in-law calls me a dumb-ass but she's not smiling when she says it and it's usually when she's walking away from me.

Does that count?

Actually, you are correct Donohue is my married name. But, of the Donohues in St Louis I am the one who is related to them ...not my husband. My maiden name is O'Donnell.... and my father was the Pat in my family. I miss that grouchy old curmudgeon!

Dane,

It is great to have an Uncle Patty.

As much as I want to be positive, I am not sure your mother-in-law counts.  "Dumb Ass" when said by the right person, while smiling (like Uncle Patty), is almost a term of endearment.  However, when it is said by an in-law, who is walking away at the time and mumbling under her breath....I don't think it is the same thing.

I added the mumbling under the breath part but it just seemed to go with the word picture you were painting.

Cait - I have some relatives in Texas but none in MO that I know of.  As you probably know, spelling Donohue with two O's is not that common.  Maybe we are related somehow.  Your Dad sounds a lot like mine - and I miss him too.
