So you're probably wondering who in the world is Roscoe. Well...over a year ago I was a bit down wondering how long my dog would live so my feelings took over and I wrote this post called Mans best friend, how much do you grieve after ones death .
When I wrote it the first draft was pretty bad as far as my spelling and the wording so I didn't want to alter it too much just so you can see it was written from the heart. If you want to read a good story that has brought tears to many eyes...then you should take the time to read it.
To this day .....I'm still receiving comments....I think there is around 185 the last time I checked so I had to disable the comments for a while as it was becoming harder and harder to reply.
Most dogs don't live as long as he but as of today he is still alive and thankfully made it to the big 17! He can still get around most of the day and then at night he seems to sleep more.
Lately I've been getting the feeling he might not have much left but we still try to enjoy him and make him feel happy and comfortable.
I just wanted to take the time to shoot this short video in celebration of my friend and trusted pet Roscoe.
Happy Birthday Roscoe......your a good ole boy!
Please see this short video.

We took her to our soccer/ball park and walked the track. She walked about 1/2 mi rode in the stroller the other mi and loved every min of it. So hopefully we will be able to celebrate her 17 like you and the rest of Roscoe's family and frends have..... Proud to see things going as well as they are.....again HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSCOE!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Roscoe! A birthday gift wrapped in toilet paper! Now there's a rockin' idea :) My hubby's b'day is tomorrow - I'll have to use TP for his gift too. haha
It is so hard when your pets reach an age when daily living becomes more obviously a struggle. Roscoe is clearly in a loving home and I wish him the best. Hope he enjoed the biscuit!!
Neal, I don't know if you knew this about me but I am a HUGE dog lover. Didn't know dogs got be 17. Happy Birthday Roscoe. You are real blessing to Neal and family. Enjoy him while you've got him Neal. Thanks for sharing the video.
Neal, I haven't been blessed to have any of my pet children with me that long, but I know how I've loved them and couldn't imagine a day without them "til it happened. It doesn't get easier with age either. I have 3 dogs: Buddy is 13, Kenai is 11 and Bingo is 10. I alos have a cat, Caleigh that's 5. Somedays my heart is already breaking for the limited years I have left with them , so I really do know how you are feeling. Just loving each day that comes is the ony thing you can do.
It's apparent that you love and care for Roscoe wonderfully for him to have had this long life wih you. Keep doing what you doing.
Give him a good pet and tell him we all said happy birthday!
( have you read the poem "Rainbow Bridge")
Warning, it could make you cry, but it is so sweet. I hope it's EXACTLY how it will be too.
Neal, this was sweet. Roscoe looks like a doll baby!! Happy birthday Roscoe!! I've only had a dog for 4 weeks and I don't know how I ever managed without him. Enjoy him little brother.
It's amazing how big a part of our lives our pets are. I think it's because they depend on us and give unconditional love! Thanks for the touching post, it's nicer than the one yesterday!
I know about the loss of Karen and didn't want to take away from that ....but also the feeling of joy during these times helps heal the other feelings.
Neal I am not a pet person, but I do understand how close pet owners are to their pets, and after 17 years Roscoe has to be just like one of the family. He looks like a tough little guy, and I hope you and enjoy and cherish every minute that you have left with him.
I'm just trying to make him comfortable with the time he has left...some days I never know and he is better or worse...I'm just hoping he can still enjoy time
Hi Neal, Your Roscoe is a sweetie. My first dog Dessie lived till 15 1/2 which is pretty good for a Shepherd Husky Lab. it was so traumatic losing her. Bella is 7 next week. We adopted here at 4 1/2 so i feel shortchanged already. Shoot now I'll be a bad Momma if I don't do a b'day blog...

Wow! 17 is an amazing age for a dog. My dog 'Chanel' just turned three, I hope I have her with me that long!
