The Kennedy legacy...like them or not...Democrat or not, they have impacted the US of A.

Love them or leave them...The Kennedy clan...The Kennedy clan has affected our future for so many years.

I remember being sent home from elementary school when John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  While I was too young to even understand what happened on that very sad day, my mother was in tears...we watched and watched and watched the scene as it was the only thing that mattered on the TV...

At the time, when John John saluted his father's casket, I didn't understand.  My mother tried to explain to me what a funeral was...why there was a cart drawn by horses.  Why everyone was so sad.

All this being said, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, in my own opinions are not the likes of the Kennedy clan.

As I sit here writing this as a Republican, I followed Jackie Kennedy live her life with grace and respect.

There is no comparison between the Kennedy clan and the Obama's.  As much as they want to be, in my humble opinion with the Kennedy family backing Barack Obama...it just doesn't motivate me or excite me as the Kennedy family did when I was young.

Perhaps Ted Kennedy is close to my heart because my father has a similar Brain tumor...My father's is not quite as serious.  I admire Ted for having the strength and courage to get up in front of the world and give what could be, his last Convention.

My thoughts and prayer's are with you Ted...God Bless and my prayer's are with you!

Ted Kennedy

How do you feel?  Do you remember November 1963?

While I am voting, and always have voted Republican, I still have the respect for a family who have dedicated so much of their lives to helping and ministering to make the USA a better place.

The Bush Clan will leave a lasting legacy as well. I would suspect that Jeb will run for president sometime in the future.

Karen, I respectfully disagree with you my friend. Ted Kennedy has done more to harm this country with his self serving policies than good. He is no where close to being what either of his brothers were. He is a despicable person who cowardly abandoned a young girl sealing her fate - a premature death. He deserves no sympathy for his plight now as he showed no remorse for his actions many years ago. Can you tell I don't care for him?

Jim,

I was talking about the Kennedy clan, not specifically Ted.  I guess I have some sympathy with them due to the fact that I am suffering with my father's demise from Brain Cancer as are they...It's a humanitarian thing.

I agree Mary Joe K. didn't deserve what she was handed.  They have not always been perfect, however dedicated to this country...I watched as John F. Kennedy was put to rest, I guess that has had a great impact on me...as I was a small child.

It's fine to disagree...All opinions are welcomed here as long as they don't attack anyone.

:-)

Karen, I agree to disagree. I just don't like the man and can't feel sorry for him. I certainly would never attack you. Why would I attack a friend?

Jim???

Where did you think you attacked me...I was talking about posts in general...not you my friend...reread the sentence there.

Not you...people in general.  It's OK, I'm not saying I like the man for what he has done in the past.

Mostly, I'm remembering the assassination of John F....he wasn't perfect either, however, it hit me hard when I was sent home from school as a child...   :-)

No, I know that I didn't attack you. And I wouldn't either. Wouldn't attack anybody here really. It's just not called for. Not sure why anybody does it. BTW - I don't think Teddy has any redeeming atributes. I think he's just a plain old bad person. JMHO

I was born in 1962, so I don't remember JFK being assasinated.  However, the Kennedy's have given plenty for this country and should be applauded as a result.  I am not a fan of Ted Kennedy, but it must be a challenge to follow in the foot steps of American "legends".  I suspect Ted Kennedy could have done better, however, and more importantly, it doesn't appear that Ted Kennedy believes the same.

Based on the associations with Pastor Wright, the criminals he associates with, and other information, it doesn't appear that Obama is more than another opportunist disguised as a political leader: sadly there are many of that breed in positions of power within this country.  Camelot occurred in the 1960's - it's time to let it go.  We have new opportunities and challenges in front of us, and trying to re-live the past will not solve those challenges.

Karen, I don't remember JFK, I was only two but have seen the footage so many times in my lifetime. Such a waste of a good human being in my opinion, although others may disagree. Even the Kennedys had and have lots of skeletons in the closet just as the candidates do now. Sad, does an honest politician even exist????

Tom,

At this point in time, if a Democrat win's, I'd trust Hillary rather than Obama.

NJ,

It was November of 1963, I was in first grade...Couldn't figure out why everyone was crying at school and why they sent us all home...

My mother was crying as well...and we're a family of Republicans...I think JFK would have helped us...

As for the infidelities...JFK, Teddy, Bill...how many men are honest/symbiotic...

Why do you think I'm single, could date, had some, wanted to marry, whatever...no thank you.

Honest men are few and far between, and the one's that are are...wussies, undescribable...and you newly married ones...don't even go there...Just wait.

Good men, honest men, are hard to find...I'm sure there are a few...then again...they are still happily married after 20 years or so...

What's that tell you;.;////requires email....LOL

Karen:

I agree with you that Hillary would probably the better of the two, but I don't believe that Mccain or Obama is going to make my life any better or worse (I'll vote for Mccain though)  My destiny is determined by what I do - not what some politician in D.C. or Sacramento does.  America is founded on the belief that the politicians operate at the behest of the citizens: not the other way around.  I plan to continue to live my life accordingly.

Tom,

I will vote for McCain as well. However, at this point in time, when Obama doesn't even know what state he's in. I'd rather have McCain answer the phone and if not him Hillary.
