I have found something that I think adds a very attractive and intuitive look to the front of my website. I have found the website Mapbuilder.net.
Through the use of Mapbuilder.net, I am able to inject my listings into a map through utilization of the Google Maps API. This gives me a graphical overlay that show the physical location of my listings on a Google map that can display in Map, Sattelite or Hybrid overlay modes. I can add text to describe the listing as well as a picture that is hyperlinked to my details page on my personal website. So you see a tear drop where the property is located, if you click the tear drop it opens up a little bubble overlay on the map and shows the text and the picture. Now if your potential client clicks on the picture it will open up the property detail page for the listing where they can schedule a showing, look at property disclosures, or even download my Home Buyer's Handbook.
This is a great tool to compete with Trulia visually. In my next post I will discuss creating your own heat maps!
Good luck and let me know how this works out for you.
P.S. I also use the map as a resume to display all of the homes I sold in 2006 and for what price.
THE MAPS WILL CHANGE THE LOOK AND FEEL OF YOUR HOME PAGE!
