1. To be a Broker or "Broker Associate" (An agent with a Broker's License) one must:
- Be better educated - Must complete 8 college or college equivalent courses compared to 3 courses for a Salesperson License.
- Be More experienced - Must have two years of full-time experience as an agent, or equivalent (An appropriate 4-year college degree may be substituted).
- Know More - Must pass a more difficult 200 question, 5-hour exam with a minimum score of 75%, compared to a 150 question, 3-hour exam with a minimum score of 70% for the Salesperson License.
2. To Earn the Graduate REALTORS® Institute (GRI) Professional Designation an Agent must:
Complete 92 hours of classroom instruction consisting of 14 select courses, over a one year period, with closed-book exams. Courses are taught by California's most experienced Real Estate Brokers, Real Estate Lawyers, Certified Public Accountants, and other Real Estate professionals.
