The Emperors New Clothes - and saying what needs to be said

Got to Say, what you got to say.  I try not to get into politics with my clients and potential clients unless they bring it up, but once the door is open, then a good discussion or debate is always just around the corner.  Since  the pres campaining has started, I have picked up more clients.  This is GREAT!!

Is AR the best place for this though?  I think you should pick up info where you can, but sometimes it is out of place.  Debating politics with your potential clients?  I would rather remain neutral, personally.

Stewart, I've seen posts on AR on all kinds of topics, many unrelated to politics. There are hundreds of blogs posted here every day. If someone doesn't want to read about politics, they have lots of other choices. I'm personally interested in hearing other viewpoints on the presidential candidates and don't have time for other blog sites right now, so I'm glad to hear some of them here.  I'm going to check out your other blogs. Thanks

Too often the political posts turn into rants and/or fights with no reason or logic to be seen. That is why I would rather see the political posts be confined to groups FOR politics. There ARE AR groups to discuss politics. It particularly bugs me to see the posts in the "Christian" groups demonizing the Democrats. God isn't Republican. (THERE- I couldn't resist slipping in my own political comment.)

Politics are important.  Unfortunately the past few elections the disagreements have been particularly venemous.  I don't understand why it has gotten so much worse.

There were always differences of opinion, but you used to be able to have friends on the other side.

Leslie: Sadly, there are those that believe there should be no seperation of Chruch and State. They cross post their hate of Democrats with their "love" of Christ. Quite confusing.

Kevin: As long as there exists Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Malkin, Ingrahm, Savage and Coulter, there will be no unity in this county. These people exist to divide. Without stirring up hate, they would have no ratings. A divided America keeps them in business.....and "us" apart.

Right on... you are totally right and I am going to refer back to this in a couple of days and see what else people have said.

I usually stay out of politics here in the rain because I am too far left...yes i said it (actually most of us in middle are now being portrayed as "far left" ) to be objective and the prevailing ideas most often presented are often knee jerk, non issue rants. Thanks for a thoughtful post!

Thank you for for answering my comment so clearly and precisely.

I must admit until this election I never REALLY took a long hard look at the facts concerning the candidate's I cast my vote for the last 36 years.    The difference this time?  Our country is at a crossroad. 

Fighting terrorism, our young men at war dying daily, nuclear threat, the verge of economic disaster, America being hated by other countries around the globe more than ever in History. THESE ARE THE ONLY ISSUES WE AS AMERICANS SHOULD BE DISCUSSING!

BUT , the Republicans will continue to distract everyone from the real issues with Abortion, Gay Rights and the Secret Muslin. Messiah life of Obama.

Finally something I can agree with.  We need to speak up and not just sit back and wait for things to get better.  It doesn't matter if we are real estate agents, mortgage people, home inspectors or whatever.  We are all americans and have to live with our voting decisions.

As far as taxes go, I can see having everyone share in getting things back on track but I can not see taking from someone and giving to another.
