As many of you may know there is an enormous blogosphere that exists in cyberspace. The influence exerted by the blogosphere plays an integral part in the shaping of both the cyber world and the real world. Separation because of distance and time is continuously contracting thanks to the immediate dissemination of information and commentary. It seems that lack of access to the internet and governmental censorship are the only barriers which remain; granted these are not small barriers by any means. I would like you to consider the following quote by the respected entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist Roger Babson.

Property may be destroyed and money may lose its purchasing power; but, character, health, knowledge and good judgment will always be in demand under all conditions. -Roger Babson

Hopefully you will allow me to share with you some of the diverse writers I have come to know through their words and pictures over the past several months. They are a representational cross section of the great blogosphere. I would encourage you to venture into the blogosphere to learn and understand from those who share themselves, from their perspective. While most don't bite, be warned that the great blogosphere beyond Active Rain can be blunt, contentious, and rude. It can also be caring, supportive, and delightful.

Now through the rabbit hole we go...

These blogs are for public consumption so commenting is both welcomed and encouraged (this will also give you a backlink). You can also find links to blogs they like. The spider web gets larger, as we get closer.

Your quote strikes home. Both my parents lost everything during WWII, and later in life it happened again. Wehn I was young, they nearly lost everything due to a situation with my father's former business partner. I grew up with little, but my parent's always reminded me that I had a great deal when I used my knowledge and health to my advantage.

I have not been spending to much time on AR lately, but I came on tonight to check out the writings of friends, and Rich, it is nice to be intorduced to the writings of others that have come into the sphere of someone I like to read. I will have to come back to check all of them out, but I am going to look at various blogs now.

Matt - There are some wonderful writers there and they are as varied as the web. Enjoy them!

Frank - I think that as children we figure out what our strengths are and use them creating our own type of self reliance. I have noticed your absence and though I may be posting more on AR, I am on less. Thanks for your kind words, be certain to check out The Lady Programmer, she has a lot of internet knowledge and insight. The others are funny, touching, informative and irreverent; I hope you like them all! Enjoy your reading tonight and I will see you around. BTW, I am honored to be your friend and someone you like to read.

Debbie - Wow, that time stamp means you are commenting on my post at just after 2AM! Time for a hot toddy to ease you off to dreamland! I am always on the computer, 12+ hours a day drumming up business! The blogs I linked too are a lot of fun, as are their cool icons! I hope you enjoy them!

Renee - Welcome! I have been enjoying your blog and really thought others from this community would as well. Thanks for adding your wonderful voice to the chorus!

Jude - Your blog is great! I have slowly been working my way north over the past couple of years...Florida to Atlanta to Knoxville! Don't know if I want to go any further though as I don't really like the cold! Thanks for stopping by!

William - Your humor is both fresh and inventive! I don't care if you "break the blogging rules," I ain't the grammar police...<<<smile>>>

This looks like an interesting collection of sites, and it's encouraging to see that some of the authors have already commented on your post. What were your criteria for selection?

Joan - I definitely thought you might enjoy several of these! I am happy that they have commented as well!

John - I really only had a couple of criteria; first (and most important) I wanted to highlight bloggers that I enjoyed and felt my recurring AR readers would enjoy. Second, I was striving for diversity of perspectives and topics; there is everything from humor to politics to SEO. I hope that you will find a couple that interest you if you visit some of them.

Heathen Mom - I am proud to feature your blog here. I think that you provide a great secular alternative to most of the religiously reasoned homeschoolers; what is normally found in the great blogosphere. My sister homeschooled her children until they reaced junior high and I will tell you they are now great college students and great adults who are preparing for the world.
