I've posted before about the extra benefits of living in Las Vegas, with all the recreation and entertainment choices right in your own back yard. It's an added bonus to be living in a place with so many talented artists and performers as your neighbors here in the Vegas Valley. Gerry McCambridge 'The Mentalist' is one more of them that you can find tucked away from the Cirques, Phantom, and other large production shows.
You may have seen Gerry on his NBC TV Special, on any number of talk shows from Letterman to the Today Show, and of course on the reality series Phenomenon. If you have somehow missed him, it's pretty amazing what he can do with his mindreading and suggestive powers. Here's just a little sample with the Coors Twins.
Unfortunately what doesn't play out in the video and on TV is Gerry's persona. On stage at Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas, his personality and comedy shines from Saturday to Thursday at 7 PM. While not raunchy, his 'suggestive' quick wit is suited for the 13 and over crowd. In these live performances he takes audience members, completely at random, and does some mind blowing feats that will leave you saying...."How'd he do that?" Even if just visiting, you really should check out his show, you'll be amazed...and laugh at the same time.
I mentioned in my last post that I had a show / event I had to attend. Gerry's was the show, and the event was him winning the 'Oscar' for Magicians. It's the Merlin Award, presented by The International Magicians Society, a global group of 37,000 magicians. They were on hand not only to do the honors, but to video the evening. Gerry joined the ranks of Las Vegas magicians Siegfried & Roy, David Copperfield, and Criss Angel, along with others including Harry Blackstone and Doug Henning to name a few of the elite group. As if that was an honor enough, Gerry is the first Mentalist to receive the award in the society's 40 years of presentations. So a big congrats to him!
Here's a few pictures from the show and the Merlin Award. Click on the HD button on the bottom of the player to view them full screen, and when finished click it again to return. To view this and all my other Las Vegas slideshows, Click Here.
