I can't help but think that every time I turn the ignition in my car to go meet a client for a showing, that its costing me so much money in gas! Because gas prices are at the level of insanity right now, I always hope that my client says YES on the first showing. Ha! Wishful thinking..I know! But I almost want to tell my client that this is a one shot deal. I'm not wasting my gas to show you this property again.

Dont get me wrong. I love being an agent and an owner of a mortgage note biz, but I'm all gassed up about gas prices! Driving all over town just so you client can say to you "thanks, we'll think about it and let you know" is really getting to me.

It sucks filling up and watching your bank account drain. It takes me like $50 to fill up thats insane. Worse is when I get a call to travel 25 minutes away to show a house and then they dont even bother to call back even after I try following up with them.

I can relate on the high gas and long drives to show multiple homes.

Although it is not pretty, it is just a business expense.  Don't show houses = Don't sell houses.  Write it off of your taxes and get a small car!!!!!  We downsized our suv to a compact about a year ago and it has made a huge difference.  I can still fit 4 people in addition to myself in the car!

Jared, I think gas prices are a big concern for many Americans.  I know in my area, many commute 30 or more miles one way each day which has caused big issues.  That and the price of goods has risen.  The latest 'slap' is TVA's announcement of a 20% rate increase.

Jared,

I don't like paying high prices either. I remember when gas was less than 30 cents a gallon, but if it was $6, I'd still pay it. It's a cost of doing business.

I try my best to make sure I am only showing homes my buyers really want to see and nothing else but it doesn't always work that way.

I e-mail my list of showings ahead of time to clients and then  when I meet with them I only show them the showings that they have narrowed down to.

Jared,  I feel your pain and I don't even drive clients around.  I do visit Realtors' offices though.
