Selling Yourself in 15 Seconds

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage South

Have you ever tried to write a brief, concise description about who you are, what you do and why you are good at it?     I have, without being very pleased with the results.

There's a website that can help you with that:

It's called 15 Second Pitch, and if you click on the Pitch Wizard, it will walk you through some simple steps designed to help you through the process of creating a short and engaging description about yourself.

I found out about this neat site in a email newsletter I subscribe to called Good Ideas A Dime A Dozen....But Implementation Is Priceless.  I have found a lot of useful information here and recommend it!  You can find out more and subscribe to it at http://themarketingguy.wordpress.com/.

This is great! I learned something like it by using the "elevator pitch". You try to say who you are and what you do in the brief time it takes to get from one floor to the next! Thanks for the link, I will go there and see how I can tweak my presentation!

Thank you, this worked great.  After I typed it all end and hit finish, I was suprised how they took the little information I gave and made it to a simple "about me".

Ann:

Thank you so much for mentioning 15SecondPitch.com here! I've worked with many real estate agents as clients and I think the trick is to create a pitch for at least ONE niche. For example, I know a woman and her niche is 20 million dollars brownstowns on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Now, I realize that not everyone is going to be lucky enough to have THAT kind of niche, she's been in the business for over 20 years, however, I also met a woman who specializes in getting places for college kids. For her, that's a group that needs a lot of help and they refer their friends. (And maybe their folks can co-sign and pay the fee, not sure about that!)

So, when you are creating a pitch, see if there is something that you can focus on that most other agents couldn't offer. And the funny thing is, that even if you have a tiny little niche and you become THEE person known for that niche, people will still ask you if you can help them with their thing. Hopefully that makes sense! It's been a long day, but I wanted to give you one of the secrets that I usually save for my live workshops.

AND, we do share 15SecondPitch success stories in our newsletter, so if had a great result from using your pitch, please let me know!

Best,

:)

Thank you Ann, good topic that most of the time we do not think about, it is true that the average person will not give you the time of day, and much less when they know that you are a sales person. I checked the place and send it out to my colleagues and friends.

Ann, having a pitch is good but maybe more effective is offering something of value to your prospective consumer clients, affiliates, or peers. You can differentiate yourself by offering something of value which will entice people to ask for more information about you and your business.

Hi Ann,

The 15 second pitch sounds great, I'm going to check it out and let you know how it goes!  I know sometimes we don't have much time to explain our services and what we're about so I'm sure I'll find it handy!  The only problem is, I'm a very detailed kind of gal, so 15 seconds doesn't give me much time to elaborate! :)

Interesting, it would be fun to see someone post their 15 second pitch results here, so I can save 15 seconds, before deciding if it is worth it! LOL, Since the screen shot was just a log in, how's that for micro time management??
