The largest oil field in the world that has not been developed yet and it is right here in the good old USA.

Google up The Bakken Formation. It tells about the report in April 2008 that will make you wonder why is this field not being drilled.  No off shore stuff just good old dirt drilling. It will produce oil at $ 16.00 per barrel and estimated to be 503 billion barrels.  The biggest producing oil field found in the last 56 years.

Located in Montana, North and South Dakota also into Canada. Check it out on The Free Site, wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakken_FormationThis area is known as the Williston Basen and there is enough light sweet oil to power America for 41 years.

This being the largest reserve in the world

There is more oil here than in the Middle East.

If you haven't read enough already, read this from Snopes.com.

We need action in Washington.  Read this report and ask questions.  Send an email or letter to your congressmen.  I have only touched on the scope of this report.

Hello!!!

Canada is drilling this formation and it is the biggest discovery there in this country.  Why do we not hear from our experts???  There could be many reasons but most likely it is because some of the American Oil Companies do not hold large leases in the area.  If you have checked this out please comment.

Don,  This is great information and I am surprised more people have not commented.  IT is true.  What's up with it?  Maybe like you said the US oil companies don't own the leases?  If Anwar is so small, why are they making a big deal about drilling there when this area is so much larger and has more oil?

Howdy Don

What a find you have came up with, to post about.

I think the oil companies have gotten so fat from importing oil, they don't want to drill here at home.

Thank ya for the links, I'll take a little ol ride over to read what they have to say.

I have bookmark it.

I also sure don't understand, why more folk's have not commentated on such a fine post.

Dale, Good to hear from you, thanks for stopping by.  I don't know why this is behind closed doors but who knows what the big dogs are doing.

HI, Gail, If you hear other information on this discovery let me know.  There were two blogs in reference to this area in Canada about six months ago.  It was a AR member from Canada and he was so excited about all of the oil business in his area.

Details? I have heard that there was a huge amount of untapped oil reserves in the Rocky Mountains. Is this what you are referring to?

7:00pm • #6

Patrick,  The big part of this field is in the western 2/3 of North & South Dakota and extreme eastern Montana.  Located 1000 feet below the surface in the Rockies. James Bartis the lead researcher with the study states there are 2 Trillion barrels as reported in the Denver Post.

Don - It is high time we begin to make our "elected"officials accountable to answer some of these questions. We want need and demand action.

There is strength in numbers and that is what it is going to take. The beauty of all this is the "internet" and information. Now what are we going to do with this information? Time to speak up folks and start making some demands. We need to call for action to take care of our needs in this coutry and if this means drilling, I say drill, drill, drill.....up, down, sidewayos, any which-way just get that oil out of the ground.

Carl & Ceil,  We sure need to be drilling in this area and not off shore.  I just received another report on The Bakken last night, Canada is drilling here like crazy.  It seems that the news about this field is just now causing a little action.

WE NEED EVERY AMERICAN VOTER TO READ THIS BEFORE GOING TO THE POLES. IT'S TIME TO CONFRONT EVERY OIL COMPANY C.E.O. IN THE U.S. ABOUT THIS AND JACK THEIR BUTTS UP FOR THEIR "GREED" AND FOR NOT DRILLING ON THE BAKKEN OR ANWAR. IT'S TIME TO STAND UP!! PEOPLE OR NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE. THE RUSSIANS STOOD UP AND BECAME FREE. THE EAST GERMANS STOOD UP AND THE WALL CAME DOWN!! WHY ARE WE NOT STANDING UP AMERICA? I FOUGHT FOR 42 MONTHS SO ALL OF YOU COULD STAND UP....WHY AREN'T YOU? GET UP OFF YOUR COMPLACENT BUTTS (POLITE VERSION) AND TELL YOUR ELECTED REPS IN WASHINGTON "ENOUGH" DAMN IT!!

Sgt. Lassiter, First I want to thank you for your service to America and all Americans.  Your service  did not go unnoticed by most Americans.  We cried for you and all of the GIs that served this country.  War is a terrible event in any country even the one's that we should not be involved in.  God Bless America and God Bless you and all of your troops that did not make it home.  There is a time, as in right now that America should Bless God.

Canada is drilling in The Bakken Field and are developing oil reserves that will take them out of the grip of foreign oil.  I don't understand why our leaders, if you can call them that, are not active in drilling here in our own country but you can bet it is about money.  All of the Hogs eat out of the same money barrel.

DON, just read your comment to my message. thank you sir for acknowledging my and my brothers in combat sacrifice in southeast asia. we don't get it to often. i agree, hush money and lots of it is being used to stop the major u.s. oil companies from drilling the bakken. even more hush money is being spent to keep the american public ignorant of the bakken. IT'S TIME TO END THE SILENCE!!

WAKE UP AMERICA!!..WE HAVE 5 TRILLION BARRELS OF OIL RIGHT UNDER OUR FEET AND WE ARE DOING NOTHING TO GET IT!! "WE" ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 4.00 A GALLON GAS PEOPLE!! WE'RE NOT STANDING UP!! NOW GET UP AND STOP THIS CRAP!!

Thank you Don for this very informative post. I have been following since your beginning post. It is ice to know some very special people like SGT. LASSITER has also commented. My thanks to both. It is definitely time some controls are taken and it is expected by the American people. We need to take back our country and get back to the road of greatness.

8:14am • #17

Carl & Ceil,  You are so right we need to get back to what this country was and was meant to be.  Our Repub leaders have just about wiped out this country.  I read today where the CEO's of Freddie and Fannie are getting some very sweet deals, Say WHAT.  We need a change so bad and sure not the same old thing.

WELL FOLKS, i have to run my mouth again to make a very important point that's being overlooked by every american in this country. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS ELECTED TO LEAD THE NATION!! NOT ONE DAMN THING WILL CHANGE UNTIL "WE" STAND UP !! and say "ENOUGH"!!. why am i the only one out here that sees the problem as it is? everyone already knows the president does not run this nation, it's our elected reps to the senate and congress that run our nation based on their empty promises and pet projects!! IF they ran our country according to "OUR" wishes there would be no homeless or hunger anywhere in this country and we would have $1.00 a gallon fuel with a more than fair profit for the major oil C.E.O'S. SIT DOWN, THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO PEOPLE!!..i'm telling you the truth and all of you know it. NOW, LET'S STOP BEING QUIET!! AND COMPLACENT!!.."STAND UP"!!..."ENOUGH"!!!.

Hello Don - I saw your blog came up again so I had to come over to check it out. I heard on the news last evening that unleaded is at $1.59 in San Antonio off the Northwest side of town. Just hope it continues to go down. We still need to drill and use every avenue possible to control fuel cost.

I saw something like the above on another blog. Looks like someone is playing tricks.

Carl Ceil,  Thanks for the comment, yes we still need to do all that we can to produce more oil here in the states.  Why people do not comment when they bring up a site I do not know.  I am like my grandson says when his dad tells him to do something "Whats Your Point"
