The Norfolk Botanical Garden is an 155 acre botanical garden with arboreatum located in Norfolk, Va. It is open daily except major holidays; an admission fee is charged. The gardens date to the mid-1930s, when the city of Norfolk set aside 75 acres of high, wooded ground plus 75 acres of reservoir for a city garden. Below is an image of a flowering Dogwood tree I recorded in the spring of 2008. I was primarily shooting the azaleas and camellias in their spring explosion of colors, but couldn't pass up shooting these two blooms in B&W.

Bryant - Not to much color (just kidding)! When I first got into photography I shot all black and white. I really miss it and I think this pic is great, I like the contras. Most people that are not into photography understand black and whites, only the pros's do. Thanks for the reminder!

Robert-

I love black and white and still shoot a fair amount of images in black and white. Just depends on what my eye see's and if the B&W part of my mind likes it.

Bryant, beautiful picture. I saw several of your posts and landed on this one. I really enjoy shooting photos like this, and just need to learn to better work my camera. ;-)

The Biltmore estae is on my list to visit, I just never seem to get there. I also love botanical gardens I can get lost for hours with my cameras.

Bryant - The house by itself to me not worth the trip. But the gardens are beautiful and Asheville it self is a lovely place to visit. Hope you get there soon!

I used to work for Volvo CE which is based in Asheville, and I have been to Appalachian State once for a visit, it certainly is beautiful country down there.

Bryant, I will, thank you. I just posted a blog and shared a bolt of lightening I captured with my Flip Video of all things....I am planning to sign up for a workshop with Nikon....it'll get me more comfortable with all of those cool buttons. Thanks,

Pepper

Education on any subject is money well spent, and Nikon does a good job with their "Nikon Schools"

Bryant,  My husband and I would appreciate it if you would move to Northern Virginia and take our oPctures.  However, I suspect you are perfectly content where you are,  Karen

Karen,

I sent you an e-mail through active-rain. I would love to do your pictures as I spend a fair amount of time in NOVA.
