So as predicted by me (I promise that's the last time I will say that!), Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin has been picked as John McCain's VP choice.

Wise! Brilliant! Inspired!! And lots more!

But now you need to get to know her and so here are some interviews with her. Damn she makes so much sense!

And then this is just wonderful and set to music.....

AND FINALLY I leave you with this. As many of you know, my radio producer and friend is an African American (he prefers American who is black!) who told my audience on the air that he would be voting for Obama simply because he is black. I just received this unsolicited e-mail from him.

"I'm still voting Obama, but he's gonna lose. Mccain's gonna take 57 to 60% of the vote." ________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How very scarry that people will vote based on Obama's skin color and not because of what they believe he will accomplish or where he will lead this great country.

I would vote for any race, gender, religion or creed if it meant that my country actually would go in a positive direction.

Obama's speech last night was good but I still can't help wondering about the SPECIFICS of his plan.

Oh and if Obama thinks that he is ready for the COMMANDER IN CHIEF debate with McCain that he mentioned last night, well...it just reminded me of my 12 year old telling me I should butt out and let her run her life.  She THINKS she's ready to run her life and a little more seasoning and life lessons will teach her in a few years that nothing could have been farther from the truth!

Simon ~ I think Obama says it wonderfully because words mean something, "She is a typical white person."

Simon, I have to agree with your friend's prediction. Despite Obama's other shortcomings, his largest problem is that Hillary still has an enormous base of supporters who are undecided. Picking a woman for VP may have just sealed the deal to sway those voters toward McCain. I also love the timing of it announcing this the day after last night's speech. I have to commend whoever is running his campaign, because they are doing a heck of a job. Michelle

Governor Palin showed herself in her speech in Ohio today to be a formidable woman and a savvy politician (as you predicted - and I will keep saying that).  Her presentation hit many points with charm, humor, experience and power.  Very impressive.

The other side was caught wrong-footed and looked a bit silly, in my view,  in their first criticisms of her youth and inexperience.

Senator McCain needs to listen to her on some points.  We have Alaska's permission to pursue exploration in ANWR - McCain needs to get on board.

I am so totally excited about this pick that I am beside myself. Everything that I have seen about her so far I absolutely love. ****************************************************** Simon, I wish that people who have lived there entire lives here in the U.S. were as committed as you to learnig the political process and making informed decisions.

Simon, 57-60% seems kind of high but I see McCain doing the right things.  Palin is an exciting choice.  Never heard of her before last night, but what I have heard today and watching these videos makes me exited.  Thanks for the videos by the way.  I can't wait until the debates.  I think McCain will make big strides there.

Simon, I had emergency root canal today. DSentist couldn't get me numb so had to go to the specialist. My face is swollen and have been in excruciating pain for over twelve hours and you know what. THIS IS A GREAT DAY I AM SO HAPPY HEARING THIS I HAVE TEARS OF JOY RUNNING DOWN MY FACE. A pro-choice pro drilling women. Brilliant.

I like her.  As Limbaugh said he wants to see her age in office.  In other words he wants her to stay a long time.

Mike - President McCain now has a nice ring to it. A one term President with Palin to run in 2012!

John - welcome!

Trey - I really wanted her; I predicted her, but I just didn't know if McCain had the guts to go with her. I'm grateful that he did.

Simon, You forgot your promise, "I promise that's the last time I will say that" *lol* OK, now calm down and post some more about Mrs. Palin. This is going to be the most exciting election I've seen. I can't wait!!!!!

Neither race nor sex nor political party influences my vote in any election, but the candidates convictions and character.  I never felt Biden had either BEFORE he was selected as VP candidate, and it sure looks like Sarah Palen does. It still goes to the top of the ticket, though, and one has to ask who is qualified to be President.  No contest!  From the perspective of a D.C. native and area resident who gets 10 times the political news other people get around the country, we never heard of Obama 'til he decided to run for Pres, while McCain has been in the thick of things for years - as the independent guy who fought for what he believed, not a party line or what was politically expedient.

Interesting choice. She is truly an outsider. How long has it been since an outsider made it to Washington, DC?

We habe been following Gov Palin since our first trip to Alaska a few years ago. Besides the leadership that she has shown she is known as being a very nice person. In my opinion she will make an excellent VP for this country, and quite possibly a wonderful President  as well.

Simon, I'm GLAD you sent Mr. McCain the "message" through your thought waves! LOL

Seriously, I think he has made a GREAT choice. I just hate, as others have said here, that some are voting for BO just because of his skin tone. I have heard several Older people that live around me say something to the effect of, "I HAVE to vote Democrat. It's just who I am." In the same conversation with them they are SO UNHAPPY with their choice but they are still voting for him.

WE KNOW WHOES GOING TO WIN, THOUGH, DON'T WE? Keep those HAPPY THOUGHTS GOING!!

Have a great day and Happy SELL'ng.

Simon - I am totally perplexed. Has our Nation reached such a low point that a person interviewed once..........not completely vetted.........can step up and be one heart beat away? Politics aside Simon, do you really believe that 18 months as govenor has provided her with the skills necessary to run the country? Do you really think that having a son headed to Iraq and being in charge of the National Guard has preparred her for the affairs of defending our country. This is not a "he said, she said" but look at Obama conversation. This is purely looking at the merits of this woman to run our country. Being totally outside of Washington is not a good thing. You have to know how the bureacracy here works. As more is revealed, more questions come up. I won't drag her daughters poor judgement in to the fray, but I will take a longer look at Palin's stand on creationism being part of the public school curriculum, and I will wonder had deep the abstinence waters run when she could not get her family on board for the message. Very strange Simon. On the left we have probably empty promises and on the right we apparently have empty skill sets. I only hope I live long enough to see an election in which both sides accurately represent the party that places them before us.

J-mac - we have a situation where one Presidential candidate and one VP candidate both have tons of DC experience. In addition to that we have one national hero. On top of that we have one Presidential candidate with no executive experience whatsoever and DC experience of around 120 days and one person with limited executive experience and limited Commander in Chief experience.

First let's look at the top of the ticket. McCain is more of a JFK Democrat than a Republican while Obama would be more at home in some of the more extreme left wing parties of Europe. Obama has almost no DC experience and zero executive experience. To me that race is a no contest.

So then we look at the bottom end of the tickets and have to assume that the top end is dead. I think Biden edges it because of his time in DC, but I personally prefer someone from outside of DC with executive experience (however limited). And remember, when given the choice, this country does not elect Senators. It will this time because there is no choice. So of the four running, one person has executive experience and the cry is "not enough".

OK - onto important stuff - you coming to a Bucs game this year?

Simon,

This is a very interesting choice and the democrats are really trying to make something out of her daughter's pregnancy.

Congratulations this post is now featured in Silent Majority of Active Rain.
