Romance Novelist Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb grew up in this adorable bungalow off of Sligo Avenue near the heart of Downtown Silver Spring.  This area used to be known as "Takoma Park" and is now known as North Takoma Park with a Silver Spring Address. 

Nora Roberts' real name is Eleanor M Robertson and her 85+ year old mother still owns this house.  She grew up the youngest and "an only girl", with a slew of brothers, who still live in the area.
   
Nora went to Parochial School, probably Saint Michaels Elementary, and then for High School she attended The Academy of the Holy Names (a girls High School on Pershing Drive which is now the Chelsea School)  When she transferred to public school, the Old Blair High School, she met her first husband. 

The family still owns and runs a very successful business, R&R Lighting on Silver Spring Avenue that her parents started in 1963, out of their home.

Nora Roberts still lives in Maryland, since leaving Silver Spring in the late 60's she has lived in the quaint "off the beaten path" town of Keedysville, Md.- a far cry from the current Downtown Silver Spring Area!
