I don't remember what the source of this photo was, but I think that the odds are good that it really is what it looks like.  A house for sale (notice the lock box on the rail) with the porch roof being supported by.... Crutches!  It gave me a chuckle and I really mean it when I say that nothing surprises me anymore!  Some things amaze me, some leave me scratching my head. If this house was really listed for sale with the crutches in place, the Realtor should have been a little more aggressive in their home staging recommendations!

Maybe that WAS aggressive and she/he was trying to convey the message that it was "handicap accessible"....gotta admit they made a memorable impression !

Janna - I have never seen anything like this before, that is unbelievable.

The crutches seem to be holding the awning very nicely.

Well, the Yankee Engineer in me is very pleased to see such

abstract reasoning - despite the owner's like of decorating flair.

Question: Do you suppose the owner is a Doctor or a Patient?

I can see the marketing tag line...

"Medical equipment included, no extra charge."

Janna.. Should this home every get an offer that is accepted, I wonder what the home inspector will say?  LOL.  Do you think it is up to code? LOL..

It looks like the house is a little unstable with the crutches. How funny.

That is too funny. If somebody does buy it if they ever break a leg they'll already have the crutches. But then the house will need the crutch after it breaks from taking the crutches out LOL

If the crutches are strong enough to hold up a 200 lb man then why not a metal awning?  Creative or stupid would depend on when they break.

I hope the homeowner didn't pay the contractor for pressure treated lumber! :-)

The crutches kind of remind me of a few years back.  Here in California we have a code requirement that water heaters be strapped, because of earthquake hazards.  I met a home inspector on a house in escrow.  Imagine our chuckle when we noticed the waterheater was "strapped" with a bungie cord:-)

Nothing surprises me anymore either!

Very funny! I will say this: it's memorable. This one would lend itself to all kinds of fixer-upper verbiage (some great examples above in fact).
