Sidney

My partner's daughter is just about the most precious child I have ever seen.

She is beautiful, charismatic, and says the cutest stuff ever.

Her first day of kindergarten was this week and she told her daddy... "Kiss my hands all over.  That way when I am missing you, I can kiss my hands and it will be like I am kissing you."  It should be illegal to be that cute!

Then, as she told me of her first day of kindergarten, she said, "Ms. Sara, can I ask you a question?"  I said of course and she asked, "Are you a teenager?" I simply responded, "That is why I love you so much!"  Can you blame me?

More Sidney-isms to come!

Kids are awesome!  Being a new father, I am just starting to realize all this!

I LOVED that early childhood--and felt completely reborn when my daughter was born.  It's an adorable stage, when we adults are compelled to fall in love with our children.  I call my daughter's cute sayings "Katiesms" too.

Sara:  Of course you are a teen-ager.  I am, too.  You are about 19... and I just turned 115.  See... I told ya !

KAS you are so crazy!!  I'm glad neither of those statements are true (0:  I would not want to go back to 19 any more than I would want you to be 115!!

I still remember this moving moment from when my now grownup twin sons were in kindergarten.  It was right before desert storm, their teacher was telling them about how our boys might have to go to the middle east to fight a war.  I don't know how much detail she went into, but they came home very concerned, they both crawled onto my lap and asked me if this was true.  I told them that we hoped not, but it looked like it might be.  They were both very quiet and then one of them looked into my eyes and asked "can you come with us?"  Oh, my heart just broke, they were so brave, thinking they would have to go to war and not saying no, but wanting their mom to come with them.  It made me think of the young boys who really were going, and how in their own hearts they to probably wanted their moms too.  We are never ready for our babies to go to war, no matter how old they get.

Sara... I love that age and the innocents that come along with it.  Tell you partner... absorb all of it while you can.. they grow up so fast.

BTW.. Sara, you do look like a teenager.
