Making Ready For Gustav...

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Brooks Prime Properties Wichita Falls Texas

For the last three years I have promised myself that I would buy a generator and gas cans "just in case". When Rita ripped up the southern coast we were without electricity for 5 days...It was 108 degrees in my home. My carpet all buckled from the heat and humidity.

We couldn't go anywhere as the gas stations were out of gas locally and the traffic was at a dead stop. A stop to the point that people were passing away in their cars from no relief.

We still don't know where he will hit but I am praying for Lisa and all the New Orleans gentle people that are just rebuilding.

There are 12 more generators coming in to Home Depot here today and I have been doing all I can to get one of them...my credit card is fired up and ready to go. Wish me luck...

And, say a prayer for our entire coast line. Thanks,

Later in the rain~Deb

Deb, Definately run out and get that generator. In 2004 we had 3 direct hits and were out of power for several weeks. Having a generator made it so much easier.

I do pray that this storm weakens or turns. Be safe.

i just missed Fay.  I don't think you will be able to avoid Gustav so I hope that it slows down for you.  I also hope you get your generator.  Fill all your coolers with ice also in case of power loss.  I fill milk cartons with water and freeze them,  ice lasts longer in a block.

My prayers are with you!

Deb, All the best of luck in the world at buying a generator.  My Gustav die quickly.  When this passes, you should stock up on supplies for the next hurricane.  Why?  Reverse psychology.  You don't have supplies, another hurricane will come.  You have supplies, and nothing happens.  The later is the way to go.
