One of the things I love about Activerain is that I am constantly amazed by the sheer number of people who are reading this site. When I wrote about the Village of Farmingdaleand the issues I am having, I received several emails from others who have had the same experience. When my recent post about Plagarism was posted, I received so MANY personal emails of other Feng Shui Consultants who have had the same issue with the SAME person.
This, then, is a personal request. I have written several times about visiting the Air Force Memorial held in Farmingdale Long Island at Republic Airport as a way to honor my dad, Lt. Colonel Peter F. Provenzale. And I have shown several planes from the wonderful shows put on right here in Farmingdale Long Island New York. I even wrote about a wonderful "Earth Angel" I came across the last time I attended who told me stories and gave me a personal tour of this wonderful Air Force Memorial sponsored by Newsday. Lt. Not long ago I received a contact from my cousin who I haven't seen or heard from in a long time. He called to advise me that he had been to the 8th Air Force Group Museum and had found my father's portrait REMOVED. When he went to inquire, THEY FOUND NO RECORD OF MY FATHER HAVING SERVED IN THE AIR FORCE. He was quite alarmed and when he advised me, so was I. The 8th Air Force Historical Society now has no record of my father who flew in the 351stgroup as Navigator of an airplane named The Argonaut by the pilot with the same name. He actually attended a reunion in 1978 with people he had flown with including Ben Schohan,Roscoe M. Pierson, Ted Randall, and Kenneth Huls. I have all the documentation I need, however, this is NOT an issue with the 8th Air Force Historical Society, it is an issue with the Federal Government and will likely take a long time to resolve.
Again, I went to Farmingdale Long Island Air Force Museum located at Republic Airport while they were having the Air Show. This time with my own personal "mission." I went to see if my Angel was there and sure enough I saw him, explained what I had discovered and he was almost as upset as I was. Lt. Colonel Peter F.Provenzale was awarded, among other things, The Silver Star, The Distinguished Flying Cross, 3 Air Medals, Purple Heart, 2 Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbons, Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense Service Metal, National Defense Service Metal and Armed Forces Reserve Metal.

I was told that my best hope in getting this resolved would be to find someone named GUS - Gutave Nathan in Yonkers New York. I have not been able to find any other information. I apologize for a post of a purely personal nature, will advise AR that I do NOT want points for it and please don't feel compelled to comment. I am just hoping with the Google Power of Activerain, someone can assist me.

wow isn't that something........how does stuff like that happen?....well I can see you're on a mission...........and I certainly hope it will resolved real soon!
Try going to Intelius and search for him there. I did a preliminary search and there is a Gus Nathan in Yonkers that is 88 years old. Does that sound like it may be possible? Please keep us posted, This is a mess that certainly needs to be cleared up. Much luck and many prayers.
Carole- Somehow Liz and I seem to have the same words for things....she wrote first so I will just say I absolutely was thinking the exact same thing. How can this happen? My thoughts are with you....and I sure wish you the best of luck and patience in your quest for righting this injustice.
I don't understand how this could happen....why would someone remove the portrait? And now, even with all of your documentation, this can't be easily resolved?
Your Dad was an amazing man and you must be very proud of him...what a list of awards and honours! I hope this post brings resolve to the issue in a very quick time and someone appears who can help you right this.
Carole - I was kind of blown away by this post! First of all, I'm so sorry that you have yet another 'situation' that you have to deal with! Knowing how long it takes to get through all the channels of the U.S. Government, I would say that this might take considerable time to resolve. How about seeking the help of your local congress person?
Now, about that movie clip, was that really your dad waving when they said "Hi Pete" or was it an actor? I get the feeling that these were all real air force men. However did you find that clip, or even know that it existed? Or for that matter, where did you even hear about this movie - I've never heard of it before now. Wow! What a wonderful tribute to your dad!
On a personal note, I'm really sorry that I can't go to the show with you this year - especially now knowing all this! Please invite me again next year!

Sally, You're such a sweetheart! It is certainly possible and I will go and look it up, they seem to think he can help in some way.
Liz, They do know it happened to someone else that went to the airshow but I don't know how. Neither do they but now it is a Federal Issue and that can take forever which is very distressing.
Carol, Thank you, I never heard of that site and will go and check it out. That may well be the person they are suggesting I find and Yonkers is only about 1 1/2 hours away! I will let you know and thank you again!!
Kathy, They don't really know but they do not believe if the photo was taken down they would have kept it---which was a portrait of my father and I am upset over. It did happen to someone else, however who still hasn't been able to get it resolved.
Jo, If they didn't have him listed for some reason the museum would take down the portrait---and the people I spoke with do not believe they would have kept it. I can no longer find it online either. I can only try to right a wrong but this may take a while.
Val, It's going to take a long time but that's what I have to go through, my congress person. Thank goodness my mother kept everything, I have ALL the documents and SO MANY photos. There were no actors in that movie, it was filmed during the war on site in Polebrook, England and that is my dad in the beginning jumping out and in the end being carried out due to his injuries. In both places he is mentioned by name. Clark Gable gave my dad the original 8MM film of the movie calledCOMBAT AMERICA and I actually found a bit on YouTube.
Carole, I know this must be distrubing and maddening for you. I know you will get to the bottom of this and it will be made right as it well should be.
Carole This is incredible. Your dad should be remembered and it is unbelievable that this has occured. With this being a political year, I would contact the offices of some of one or two of the people running for office -- and see if they can intervene on your behalf. Happy Labor Day and best of luck!
