Diane,
The biggest thief of time isn't a person, its the computer. I tell my son all of the time.. step away from the computer! I'm thinking about getting a siren/time keeper (lol)
All I can say is WOW. Not a real estate story that I would like to experience. I have had clients "rob" my time as well but never to the extent of deceit and fraud.
wow...that hurts. I thought some of my clients were bad but 3 months of valuable time spent to find out at the end that it was a lie.....damn. I would be furious but poor wife and children. Well keep your head up and you may make a sale through some good contacts you made at the ceremony and events escpecially after they all see how you handled things. Keep working!!!
ouch, that's almost unbelievable. Hard to imagine what goes through peoples minds.
It's hard to keep thinking positive after something like that; wow!, hope your next three are easy ones to balance it out.
Yicks....I got a call once a few months after closing...someone saying they were the FBI...and they identified the buyers, address and had lots of details...Mr. Buyer forgot about his California wife when he married the current one...whoops...and had a stolen identity even though he was able to get the loan, hold a job, get a drivers license, etc....
DIANE - You're right about this. We tend to look at loss in financial terms, but wasted time is so much more painful. You can always make more money, but you can't make more time. Sorry to hear about your situation.
Thats crazy but some things like this will happen when in the industry long enough. Time is valuable but you had no way of knowing all of this.
Incredible. I don't understand these pathological liar types, but they frequently love to put themselves in the military, either in the past or the present.
I knew one woman (thankfully not a client) who used to lie that she had been in military intelligence and used her knowledge of Russian there. Not long after that, we happened on a poster with some Russian in it and she pipes up "what's that Greek doing on there?"
So sorry you had more of a time-waster than the garden variety.
Sorry to hear a story like this in our listing agreements here in Florida we are allowed to make claim on deposits if the listing agent has properly filled out the listing agreement and that is split between the listing agent and selling agent along with the seller. It does not make up for a $24,000 dollar commission but it does help when you have a high deposit in escrow.
That's a crazy story. It's unfortunate that people go to such great lengths to deceive and destroy the lives of others.
Diane, what an incredible experience. Makes me wonder if the earnest money deposit check was good. It definitely was a waste of your valuable time and effort.
That story has left me speechless. That is something you read in the paper, but is not suppose to happen to you. All I can say is wow!
Wow! The thing to remember is that con men are "good" at what they do, or they wouldn't be so successful. Always important to remember that inner voice, that one that is our built in alarm. A bad experience, though, and one that would upset you.
