This image is a scan from Ilford Delta 100 B&W film shot with a Canon EOS A2. The image was shot in 1999 of a dead tree overlooking Deception Pass from Whidbey Island Washington. For this week long photography trip I shot exclusively B&W and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. This print has been my best selling print from this trip and has to date almost completely paid for the trip.
I LOVE IT!!!!! I have a thing about old gnarled trees. So what size prints do you sell? I really do like that picture!!! I have pictures of trees all over my house.
Bryant - If you keep posting these black & whites I am going to have to switch my digital camera over to B&W. Great photo and the tree looks very old.

If you go to the online store of my website http://www.bpaydenphotography.com you will see an "art prints" gallery and that image "Lone Vigil" is in the Summer 2008 gallery. It is available in various sizes and with different mating options. Thanks so much for the compliments, this is one of my favorite images as well.

I will keep posting my artwork as long as y'all want to see it and comment on it. =0) Thanks for all the encouragement.
I can see why, that's a original photo, a classic. I'm surprise some artist have not tried to copy it or reprint on a canva. Beautiful~Newbie Roy

Thats a good idea, the lab I use will print photo's on Canvas, I have never done it with any of my photo's but I have seen it done and it's a cool effect. I might print a few and try and sell them at the next craft/art fair I display at.
Bryant, Awesome shot. I lot it. I would love to come across something like that myself. Thanks for sharing.
Bob-
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for all the kind words. Take care and have a great Labor Day.
That tree isn't in Deception Pass State Park. It's in Washington Park, near Anacortes. Deception Pass doesn't have that tree. The water in the background is the bay near Skyline Marina. The island is Burrows Island. Not to take away from a gorgeous photo. Just make sure it's identified properly!

Well I was going from memory from 9 years ago. What's it like to never make a mistake?

I just went back and checked my notes from 9 years ago and that shot was taken right before the Deception Pass Bridge, with pass island in the background from route 20 at the car pull off. So Im sticking with my labeling from 9 years ago. By the way what a prodigious memory to be familiar with every tree in a 4,1234 acre park!
WOW...
I, personally, love the B&W pictures, for this very same reason... Nice dramatic effect and a beautiful picture
Hi Bryant, where are you selling your prints if i may ask? Beautiful Photography!
