What's Next for US Realtors? Going International! Here is a Cheat Sheet:

As a kid growing us in Eastern Europe, I used to make snowmen in the front yard every winter. For those of you who have never made a snow man, here is how you do it: you take a bit of snow in your hands, you pack it into a small ball of snow, then you take that ball and roll it around in the snow growing it larger and larger until you form one gigantic ball that becomes part of your Snow Man's body.

It is fun to take those few flakes of snow and "grow" them into a huge ball of snow. I feel like I've done the same thing here on AR within the past couple of days.

It started by my reading a blog that enticed me to write another blog ( AR Going International? Why Not! ). That blog became a featured post and garnered many comments. One of the members suggested that we should have some type of consortium where we could present true Real Estate Deals for the Indian Buyer who is now very strongly looking at other investment options, so I created a new group called: AR International Showcase of Deals, where our members can present "the Deals of Deals" to the International Buyer with plenty of cash, ready to pull the trigger.

Two of the readers mentioned an AR Member from the UK, Poppy Dinsey. I checked out her blog and it is simply stunning! She has cutting edge information on lots of great techie subjects and a fresh and fun style. I subscribed to her blog and devoured her posts, assembling many of the UK sites for reference.

I checked out the AR Groups and we have several that deal with International Real Estate: International Real Estate, Certified International Property Specialists, Viva Mexico, not to mention the several Canadian groups active here.

I then did a search for International Real Estate and assembled a wide array of interesting sites and articles for your perusal. This is so much fun! Thank you for being such an enlightened and extraordinary group of people! I am glowing with joy!

The trend of reconstructing old buildings and turning them into tall towers is slowly catching up in Thane, Mumbai. Quite often, people are cheated by developers during this process due to their ignorance. Mr. Srinivas Ghaisas, a legal advisor from Thane, recently held a discussion with those attending the Aatre Katta session in Thane, where he recommended the following steps to avoid getting duped:
•When you decide to reconstruct the building, call an architect to survey the place and estimate the floors that can be increased and other technical details
•Go for tendering process while selecting a builder
•Shortlist the tender and inquire into information given by the builder in the tenders, most of the work mentioned by them in these tenders did not exist
He also added that, “Take a written offer from the builder and then decide your terms in the society meeting. If the builder is building an extra six floors, it is your right to enjoy some profit earned by the builder. Make your own development agreement and shortlist the demands. Decide which demands are negotiable and which demands are non-negotiable and which could be negotiated. Make a final agreement based on the offer given by the builder and the final demands put forth by you. When the builder knows that he is dealing with knowledge able people he will agree to most of the demands put forth by you." For more view- realtydigest.blogspot.com

This is a good idea. Great post. I always like to read about international Real Estate market.

If I could go back in time I would have spent time on finding properties in each country just before they entered the EU. For instance, I'm absolutely positive you noticed what happened to property values in your homeland.

Thank you for compiling this treasure trove of information. I knew about a few of these sites and will enjoy checking out at the rest.

I have seen the building boom in Mumbai. I agree people have to be careful who they choose as there have been cases where the builder could not complete the project.

Mirela, international exposure is essentially asking Realtors to "get off their local porches and look globally" which is something I completely support. In fact there are a few global property search engines available. I think it would be beneficial to create some new relationships and partnerships with overseas property specialists.

Odd fact what is the most expensive city in the world to buy property? Not NYC, Not Paris, NOT in the middle east. . . Moscow and not Idaho.
