Even When I Pick Peaches, I'm Thinking Home Staging

Today was perfect! The sun was shining, there was a refreshing breeze...perfect day to go pick peaches. There is nothing like the taste of a just picked, juicy peach on a beautiful summer day in New England.

Of course, my "stager" mind came up with an analogy while I was enjoying my adventure amongst the fruit trees. bountiful peach trees

The trees are so full and there are so many to choose from. I was very selective on my quest for the perfect peach. Each one was closely inspected before being plucked from the branch.

Just like the real estate market, I thought...buyers have choices.

Price being equal, the determining factor would be appearance and condition.

Imperfect peach

Peaches with imperfections are not as visually and emotionally appealing to buyers. I watched as others searched for the "perfect" peaches, the ones with the best color, the best looking ones.

All around me I heard comments like "look at this one" and "what a beauty" and "I found some nice ones over here."

People are naturally drawn to attractive and visually appealing products.

In today's market with so many houses to choose from in their price range, buyers will pick the house that feels like home to them.

They don't want the house with imperfections, they want the move-in ready, visually appealing house.

Ok, home staging analogy over... how about some info on where I went for this wonderful experience!

Cider Hill Farm is located in Amesbury, Massachusetts. It is our favorite farm to visit to pick peaches in

the summer and apples in the fall. Apple picking also available

WARNING: They make fresh apple cider donuts there each day...warm and sugary...to die for!

Friendly Goat In addition to all the fruit picking and donut eating going on,

of course there is fresh cider, corn on the cob,

a country store with all kinds of goodies, including fresh baked pies, and all the usual fresh veggies.

They sell their own honey.

For the kids,

There are goats and chickens to feed,

and really cute tire swings that look like horses... horse shaped tire swing

In the fall... potted mums and pumpkins galore!

Aunt Eleanor loves the donuts! Did I mention the donuts?

The donuts sound tasty. How awesome you can pick peaches! I would Bake a fresh Peach and Spice Streudel Yumm then top it with a scoop of raspberry sorbet! Did I mention the donuts sound good right about now!!! sorry this made me hungry for donuts!

Sharon, what a nice way to describe the value of staging! It's human to pick the prettiest, most attractive anything, and your illustration is one clients can relate to. Wd do this every grocery trip, examing the fruits and vegetables.

Hmmmm...peaches and donuts. I know! I'll make peach fritters! Darn you, Sharon, I was doing so well on my diet! Cute post! Makes me miss New England!

Hi Sharon, you've got the best pictures in your blogs! Look how cute you look in your hat enjoying the day on the farm. I love your peach pickin', house buyin' stager analogy. You are right on the money with that one.

I'm right there w/ your Aunt Eleanor, if I had one of those fresh apple cider donuts right now, I would be enjoying it with my morning tea.

Ahhh........ thanks also for the stroll down memory lane. My grandparents had quite a large farm when I was growing up and there were apple orchards, peach orchards, corn fields, and tomato, bean & squash patches. You get the idea. So much fresh produce it was heaven for me being a vegetarian!!!

Sara I love New England in the Fall, my favorite time of year. The crisp air, the cool mornings and hot afternoons, the colorful trees. It's the best.

Jim and Maria It is a great family outing. A wonderful way to have quality time with the kids. My husband and I think it is really nice to be there without kids, too!

Debi I've had cider donuts from many other local farms and they just don't compare. I don't know what this place does different but they really are the best around here.

Our local farm makes those sinful cider donuts - and their corn maze opens next weekend - can't wait! Julie

Now I have to go buy some peaches, maybe some pumpkins and advise mt sellers of the advantage of home staging.

Elaine I've never had peach fritters, care to share a recipe? Sorry about the diet, I'm sure you won't fall that far off of it. With your busy schedule, aren't you burning enough calories not to have to diet? Did you live in New England?

Julie The donuts are sinful, but the season is short so we really don't have that many. I love corn mazes! My family, usually about 10-15 of us, has a yearly tradition started three years ago of visiting a giant corn maze. We have set this years date for 9/28 and I can't wait.

Debi They are similar to plain donuts, but have a wonderful apple cinnamon flavor. They are deep fried and rolled in sugar. It's really awesome when you get them still warm.

Sharon...that was a great analogy! And your pictures were tantalizing...do you know of a peach orchard closer to me? The ones in the store have been tasteless!!

Joan Check the list on this website and maybe you will get lucky. I noticed at least one place was located in Concord. Don't wait too long, the season is short. Good luck, there is nothing like fresh picked!

Sharon- When I lived in Kansas City, there was an apple farm that had a restaurant, and the fruit fritters were delicious! I just bet I still have that recipe around and would love to share it with you. I was born in Orange County, NY, but lived in CT for 4 years as a child. Even after we moved to NJ, we camped every summer and New England was my mom's choice, because she didn't like hot weather. Franconia Notch was one of our favorite parks.

I have never been to New England, and it's on my list of thigs to do before I die. After reading your post I think it has just move up a few pages! The peach farm looks like a wonderful way to spend a day.
