Real estate agent accused of thefts

A real estate agent arrested and accused of stealing change from a home she's trying to sell. I don't understand and now I read the blogs "Don't these people rip you off enough? Sell your own home, the MLS is nothing but a shady monopoly and it's the only reason to use an agent." One bad apple spoils it for everyone else. I am not sure where this happen, but how do we fix the good will? Another blog"What a firggin loser. I can't tell you how many real estate signs I've seen in my area that had agents I knew to be complete scumbags growing up. Are they ever going to do a background check on these people. Sorry to the good real estate agents who this waste product is going to hurt. Wow This effects all of us. There is good and bad in all fields of the industry.
Everyone in life is different and condemning one person and the entire industry isn't correct. So although one agent took change, there are others who have creditability, and reputations within our industry.

Jack - A lot of people lump us in with bad car salesmen.  The only thing we can do is try and make ourselves stand out as different, I guess.  A few bad apples spoil the bunch, just like you said.  Sad, isn't it?

Jack~ Why in the world would a agent ever steal?  Better yet, why does anyone steal? I hadn't heard about this.  Too bad, but it just makes our reputation worse, and it is a shame because most agents are honest, ethical and hard working.

We don't need licensee exams, we need I.Q. tests and moral evaluations.  Every industry has its problems, we are not unique...just a little more visible.

In Florida, you are finger printed and you are required to have a background check prior to going to RE school, at least in the Fort Lauderdale area.

I cannot believe that anyone would do that.  I've shown homes before where there was cash on a dresser.  Rolex's on the bathroom sink and I watch their personal affects like a hawk.

Jack,

Unfortunately, real estate agents ranked below attorneys and used car salesmen on ethical behavior last time I checked.  This did not make me feel great about the profession.  A few bad apples spoil the crop.

It's all about perception after something like this happens.  The public hears about one bad agent and all of a sudden we're all crooks and thieves.  Such a shame...
