Gustav - Save Our Best Friends!

I know I'm writing two blogs in one day, but i felt compelled to write this one. Whenever we have devastating weather such as Mother Nature is dumping on us now, Gustav, we tend to focus on the human victims.  Many of us forget about the other living creatures that are frequently the forgotten victims of these storms: the animals that sometimes, unfortunately, get left behind.

Gustav is battering the Gulf Coast as I write; many people have been evacuated.  This time the pets of most of these folks have been able to be evacuated along with their human counterparts.  Thank God that we learned from Katrina, and provisions have been made for this.  Some animals however had to be left behind (horses, exotic animals etc.)  That's where a group of volunteers come in: Noah's Wish.  Their singular purpose is to rescue and shelter animals in disaster situations.  That's it.  They only have this one mission: to save animals that have been caught in disastrous storms or dangerous circumstances.  If you are interested in finding out more about this organization, go to: www.noahswish.org.

happyThis is Happy!  He's been our best friend for over 20 years and if he stays healthy promises to be around for another 50 years.  I couldn't image my life without this little "talking" friend, and our two little dogs, Toby and Muffin...here they are! Now maybe you can understand why I am so passionate about animals in danger!  If you have the same sentiments I'd love to hear from you.

In our somewhat disposable-minded society it's easy to see how God's "other" creatures are treated as second class citizens at times.  Thanks for caring and sharing. I'll check out the organization.
