Owning a little get-a-way place out in the country, what could be better?
Often a picturesque old farmhouse with a babbling brook, located at the end of a lane comes to one's mind. Since buying a farm may be a wonderful daydream for some urban dwellers, it can also be a startling education on what I really didn't expect to learn.
Farms come with acreage and outbuildings. Back forty's and outbuildings come with stashes of stored and discarded stuff from other days. These are the places that farmers squirrel away all those old things that just might come in handy someday. When you buy a farm you might expect that the barns will be emptied out and broom clean, right?
Make sure that is agreed upon, as it is not always the case. Nonetheless, if you are not watching there might be a few other forget-me-nots that could be missed. What are the most common farm items routinely left behind that you may not want to deal with? Those items seem to be huge piles of unwanted manure, bales of surplus hay, and there is always that an abandoned truck, rusting away behind the shed like this one I photographed this week. Last questions... why do they always leave the hood open?

I haven't sold any farm land yet. I have seen farm property and I wouldn't be surprised about there being leftover items. Something for me to remember when selling a farm property, to ask if everything is going with them.
The truck looks old enough to have some parts to sell. The thought occurred to me because I live with sons that work on trucks!
