Found My Daughter's "To Do List" - Humor

Education & Training with Dubai International School, UAE

Was cleaning out some drawers and I found my younger daughter's "To Do List", which I believe is 2-3 years old, so that would have put her at 13-14 years old, being she is now 16-1/2 years old and tomorrow beginning her Grade 12 school year.

I read this outloud and couldn't believe the imagination my teenager has:

Caitlin's To Do List

1) Change all the clocks.

2) Laugh ever hour on the hour.

3) Defy the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.

4) Name all the trees on your block.

5) Tell someone:  "Yes, but the ink never dries if your pen is filled with "lard".

6) "Fix" the books.

7) Follow someone around all day, taking notes on their activities and not being seen.

8) Create a treasure map.

9) Start a Sing-A-Long at random.

10) Put confetti in the air vents.

11) Call a friend & say, "You're won a lifetime supply of salamanders".

12) Fill the bathtub with saltwater and pretend it's the ocean.

13) Change my name everytime someone remembers it.

14) Replace all nouns in a story with colors & read it outloud.

15) Open every door, cabinet, closet & drawer in your house. Wait for someone to come over and pretend to not notice.

16) Freeze something at random and replace it.

17) Use the same word repeatedly throughout the day.

18) Don't use a mirror.

19) Send a message in a bottle via a helium balloon.

20) Wear 2 different shoes.

Now, keep in mind, she took the SAT's when she was just 16 years old, last December,  she scored 1990 on her SAT's.  Had the privilege to attend the National Scholars Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. this July 2008 for 2 weeks.  She's extremely bright and very different, to say the least.  After attending the Law & Advocacy program at this conference, she wants to be a Patent Lawyer.  She wants her 1st degree in Engineering and than wants to attend Law School.  I'm already in the "Poor House" thinking about the cost. LOL

Hey Ann-Marie,

I'm just curious if you talked to her about this list? It would be interesting to see which of these items she has completed. Some of these wouldn't be hard to do...that said, many of them could be a challenge to complete.

Ann-Marie - This is a funny list!  I am planning to include this one in the Family Ties recap today.  What is the highest score on the SATs there?  It was 1600 here when I was in high school.   Just curious -

What a great list! How nice that she got creative with her boredom! What will she be like when she's in her 20s?

Hi Jason,

The highest score possible for the December 2007 SAT was 2400, or 800 for each section; Reading, Math & Writing. ;>)

Hi Luther,

She said she has done 12 out of the 20, devious like her Mom. ;>)

Hi Elaine,

When I think about her being in her 20's, it's a little scary.  I picture her traveling around the world.   ;>)

I love the idea of starting a sing-a-long!!  Please let your daughter know that I once went to work, and to my son's school and to the grocery store and didn't realize until the end of the day that I had one black shoe and one blue shoe on ALL DAY!!!  And it wasn't on my to do list!!

I love the idea of a Sing-a-long at random.  Sounds like a musical.  I LOVE musicals!  And the salamander a day is just plain intriging.....

I enjoyed reading this... and am already trying to think whose vents I can put the confetti into...maybe a home inspection. ok...I also like the idea of naming trees... I always name a few "friends" in my neighborhood...and say 'goodbye' to them when I move away. thanks for sharing this!

I found this to be very funny, especially since I have a 14 year old granddaughter.  Did Caitlin do all (or any) of the things on her list?

Ann-Marie, two words for you:  State Schools. Best thing we did for our oldest daughter who's a senior at Virginia Tech.

I sure hope Caitlin didn't put confetti in the air vents! She's a very imaginative young lady, I too would be interested in her current to-do list. She'll go far.

You must be very proud, you have a wonderfully bright daughter that seems to know what she wants in life.  My daughter just turned 13, I think they grow up to fast seems like just a month ago she was 5 years old.

Love the list - my favorite is number 15 the one about leaving cabinets doors, drawers etal open and then pretend not to notice.  Your daughter is not only bright, she is brilliant - completely out of the box.
