What a great weekend it was to have fun in the sun at Lighthouse Point Park in the Morris Cove neighborhood of New Haven Connecticut.

My 6 year old granddaughter Brooke was visiting for the long weekend and living only a short distance away from Lighthouse Point Park, we decided to take a little visit to the park.

As you near the entrance to the beach, the first thing you see is the Splash Pad where children and adults frolic in a variety of water stations with water sprinkling and splashing from all directions.  Naturally, Brooke made a beeline to the Splash Pad and had a splish-splashing time.

From the Splash Pad, we strolled around the park where children were enjoying the playground of swings, slides and jungle gyms and watched a game of beach volleyball.

The beach was packed with sun worshippers and families enjoying the beautiful views and the refreshing ocean breeze.

The highlight of the park is the New Haven Harbour Lighthouse also known as the Five Mile Point Lighthouse as it is sits on a point of land 5 miles from the New Haven Green. Along with the backdrop of the lighthouse are beautiful views of the New Haven Harbor.

What a beautiful place, Donna! I only got to the beach two times this summer...very short trips. NC beaches are lovely, but that beach looks perfect! GBU!

Valerie - The park is open year round.  Bring your sons down anytime while the weather is still warm.  If you do, just let me know.  It'd be a great way to get together and if I'm lucky I might have my granddaughter to bring along too.

Elizabeth - The park and beach are beautiful and while it's within walking distance of my house I never got down there at all this summer except for the day I visited with my granddaughter.
