What to do when your life line gives up the ghost!

OK my life line my PHONE is my portable virtual office.  If I am driving, walking or just not in front of a computer or a desk with a landline (which is most of the day)  my phone is me life line.  Well today the land of "can you hear me now" actually came through.  I started out the day fine.  The life line functioned as always.  Then all of a sudden panic started to creep in.  On the way to a showing (that was 15 minutes out of town) I could no longer answer the calls coming in.  It was a progressive disease that soon took my 7,8, and 9 keys from me.  OH NO!!!  alas I thought I must bypass these problems and get to all the calls that are coming in.  So if I open the phone up and use the keyboard and speaker phone I could use it.  Then I found if I closed the phone it would have seizures and start keying in random numbers by itself!  Dr House was not available so as soon as I finished my showing I rushed it to the emergency room.  While it was a goner the ER staff quickly performed a transplant and transferred all my information and the 220+ contacts I have in my phone.   So while yet another crisis has been avoided all I can say is   CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW!!!!

As the Broker-in-Charge, owner and founder of Total Care Realty, LLC, Larry is focused on quality of service. He believes in being on the cutting edge of any product or process that will help market the client’s property or help them find the perfect home. Larry has been consistently recognized as going above and beyond for his clients; he was described as a ‘personal concierge Realtor®’ early on in his Real Estate career. Drawing on his past experience of owning restaurants and working with new technology, innovation is his focus. Larry often says, “we are not afraid to take advantage of new technology as soon as it is available instead of waiting for a corporate office to tell us what we are allowed to do”. This is a benefit of being an independent Real Estate company. As a graduate of The Citadel, instilled in him is the importance of discipline, loyalty, focus, and determination. Marrying those ethics and ideals with the hard driving focus it took to own and manage restaurants for almost twenty years, has given Larry a passion to make sureclient satisfaction is the number one priority. “As your Personal Concierge Realtor® it is our job to help take care of every need of our clients.” Larry Story — Total Care Realty, LLC — 336-327-1841 also at  http://totalcarerealty.net

Larry, I started playing around with computers over 20 years ago and the best thing that can ever be taught to anyone of us "back up, back up, and back up again". Phones are the same way now a days, so back up that database to.

Well Larry, I feel your pain. I got up this morning and started getting a "jump" on my day by writing up my impending contract. After entering all the information on the 8 page contract, I hit "Save" & I immediately got the dreaded ERROR message. And not your typical message, but some bizarre series of numbers etc. And I could not get out of it! without closing everything & losing my data. So to add insult to injury, I called our Association Tech support line & got the dreaded recording! I left the information requested & WAITED for a call back. Guess What! I called 2 hours later & ditto. At this point it would be quite easy to Handwrite the contract Right?? Wrong! The Bank owned property specifically requests No Handwritten contracts. I feel your pain.

This is a very clever post!  We have all become dependent upon our cell phones.  We need to train ourselves to back up the information stored on our phones on a regular basis!

I worked in the wireless industry for many years. I don't like cell phones. Really don't like them. I really love doing home inspections out in the boondocks where they don't yet have cell phone service. Ah, peace and quiet. May have to move out to the boondocks myself. Maybe pretty soon. LOL

Tiffany it was a little worrisome at first. Then I figured if I opened up the phone I could still use it but, I could just not close it.

Larry - Isn't it funny how dependent we are on those things?  I had a similar experience when my cell phone died.  I quickly got a loaner phone, but I was so lost until I did...  :)

Debi you know it.   Heck I was almost swearing up a storm because I was getting calls but, unable to answer them nor was I able to even get my voicemail.
