Sacramento is now super cool with a "311" number. What can you do with this number? Just about everything! Have a junker parked next door? Call 311! Have a clogged sewer line? Call 311! Need to talk to someone about your water sewer and garbage bill? Call 311! There is way more to it and I have just mentioned the tip of the iceberg. It eliminates the need to look up individual phone numbers for each of these departments.
The other day I was driving down Riverside Blvd when I noticed water seeping out of some small hole covers in the middle of the street in about 3 places. I had to call 411 to get the number for the city maintenance (at a cost of $1.75 on my cell phone). Then they had to transfer me to the right person. Now, with this new service, it will be a simple as 311!! No difficult number to rememeber or having to keep a reference card in my car to know what number to call.
See? We aren't such a cowtown afterall!....or does my making a big deal of this confirm that we are a cowtown? Oh well!
