Thanks for this reminder!  My dad always taught me that every right is supported by a responsibility (thanks, Dad).  Voting is both a right and a responsibility.

I am a registered voter but I have to say what an imformative post.  Some people have no idea where to register.  My 19 year old son was home from college during the last election (local) and voted for the first time.  He was funny he said "mom am I a Democrat or Republican, I said your an American!"

Hi Kristin-this year my youngest son is finally able to vote.  It's important to get the info to young adults or those who have never registered and want to take part in voting.  It's not too late...

Good post Midori.  I think we can change things in a big way if more people will study and learn the issues and what the candidates believe and vote accordingly.

This is a great reminder to all.  That in a republic we have our representation through our elected officials.  We should all vote.

Voting is of the utmost importance.  I know this isn't a political site, but I'm excited to hear from Susan Palin tonight.  The Dems had their bash and now the GOP has its bash.  Very exciting.

Midori, I echo this point as well in every email and here on my blog. It is important. Great Wake up call.

Thank you for the information.  I have spoken with lots of individuals and they have expressed disgust with the government.  When I questioned them about their voting background, 75% say they have never voted.  I urge all to not disregard your given right, PLEASE VOTE!

Midori, I have always said if you don't vote, don't complain about who is elected. I don't think you have that right to complain. Voting is a duty. Look at the people around the world that have risked their lives to vote and we can do it safely. It saddens me that American Idol gets more votes than the Presidential election. Maybe we can change that this year.

Midori, this is an important reminder to those who have not registered.  I believe I registered to vote the day that I turned 18!  In Virginia, you can't register to vote by party -- you're registered as a Virginian & as an American.

Good reminder.  Every election, and especially this one, is important.  Regardless which candidate you prefer or which issues are most important to you,  you can't voice your views unless you register to vote and then get out on election day and cast your vote.  Every vote does count;  your vote contributes to a stronger voice among those who feel the same as you.
