ECO-All-Starsmoderators, Stephanie, Mary and I concocted an appetizing Summer "dish" in the Eco-All-Stars (monthly) August Challenge. Eco All Star August Challenge

This "entree" is designed to gentle us into the workings of Localism...as Steph pointed out...

" The NEW Localism is all about talking WITH the consumer not TO the consumer.  So, how can WE as a group provide approved content to Localism, provide the consumer with amazing LOCAL information....

And get them involved with the site, blog, comments...It's about making connections.  Finding like minded people in the community that want to share information as well?

The contest had been extended until September 6th because the entries were so "delicious"...! Read below to see the "dessert recipe" we cam up with as the tie-breaker!!!!!!

and ENJOY the Eco All Star August Challenge..

let us know if it works for ya'

Via Stephanie Edwards-Musa, Realtor ® The Woodlands, TX Real Estate:

We are in the middle of judging the Eco All Star August Challenge right now and are in a dilemma!  We have a tie for all places!

They are all so good, local, great pictures....

So, as the judges we decided to get together and figure out a tie breaker.  First, what is the reason why we did this?

The NEW Localism is all about talking WITH the consumer not TO the consumer.  So, how can WE as a group provide approved content to Localism, provide the consumer with amazing LOCAL information....

And get them involved with the site, blog, comments...It's about making connections.  Finding like minded people in the community that want to share information as well?

Well, we decided to look at the criteria again:

  • Must be about your Community-  Yep.
  • Have local pictures to associate- Yep.
  • Tagged Properly-  That too.
  • Grammar and Spelling-  Yes.
  • Interesting, Unique and Different- All were that too.

So what can we do for a Tie Breaker?  Oh my, that's tough.

The last item on the Challenge was actually a Bonus.  It was meant from the beginning to help be a tie breaker...so we are revisiting this one.  This is the only part of the criteria that none of the posts had:

  • Bonus if it is an interview or otherwise and the local business, etc. comments on the post.  Remember, the end goal of Localism is to get the community involved..i.e. YOUR Community

We decided that this would be a fair tie breaker.  So...

We are extending the challenge for Another 3 days, until September 6th!  :)

janeAnne, Mary and I are challenging all of the entries to go meet to community.  Let them know that you wrote about them and that you are passionate about what you do.  Invite them to hop over and meet your online community VIA Localism!  We will revisit all of the entries and check out the comments to see if your community has hopped in.

Many of you did amazing and put in several entries, but to be fair we only chose one per person to judge so here is the list of the ones we were looking at.  See you on the 6th!!!!

janeAnne,  I cut and pasted a comment from my outside blog on the same post.  I don't know if that counts but I was so excited because she is the ONE green designer/homeowner in our area and Chair of the Lake Norman Home Builders Assoc.'s Green Building Council of which I am a new member.  I wrote a post a while back about her house.  Oh, and I also got an email from a woman who just started a recycling company here in Mooresville.  Thanks for including me!

I sent an email to the Conservation District of Southern Nevada along with a link to my post. The District Coordinator sent a great response, with info about other projects they're working on and how the public can get involved. Thanks for creating a contest that has encouraged us to get involved in our local Green community.

Thank you for inviting me to be part of the contest. I sent out links to the builders and to my suprise I received two responses! One form the preferred lender and one from the builder himself.

Great idea to have a contest in order to get the Green word out! Keep it up.

Hi JaneAnne, Mary and Stephanie:

Thank you all for including me in the list among the veteran bloggers and ECO -ALL STARS~ GREEN Contributors :-)

Great idea to get local comments also - I sent the link to a few of Novato's concerned citizens - one is a leader in promoting GREEN ideas in both the school district and community; she has been doing that long before anybody else here; one is board memeber of local community and several leaders at public school system.  Although I know them, it;s very interesting to read their comments.

Hopefully this raises their awareness of the site and perhaps they will come back and check on new ideas from fellow ECO bloggers.

Thanks again!
