Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, and Tornadoes oh my!!!  We are all fine here in Pensacola Florida.  We had a lot of wind and rain and numerous tornadoes.  None of the tornadoes touched down as far as I know.  I was getting my early morning coffee at Circle K and the lady there told me she watched as 5, yes, 5 tornadoes passed by the store.  Thankfully none of those touched down.

Now that Gustav is gone, we are watching Hannah and the dreaded IKE.  I might be a little concerned about Ike.  It is the Hurricane season and I will be glad when it is over.

Hi diane,

I've been getting accustomed to them so it's just another day for me except if there is not school.

Dianne that is good news.  I have friends that moved from Connecticut to Pensacola and they were very concerned about this storm.

Dianne, It has to be unnerving at times.  I love Florida but wonder if I would worry about spending the entire hurricane season there---

Howdy Diane

Glad to know everyone is doing fine!

I grew up in Tornadoe alley back home in Missouri, so I sure know how them there Tornadoes can be. I also lived outside of Miami for a few years when I was in my teens.

We have Tornadoes here in Southern Missouri, and I fear a tornadoe as much as a hurricane. I wish you well during the season of hurricanes.

Diane, did you happen to go to the beach Monday?  I don't know what it was like in P'Cola but it was churning up pretty good here in Ft. Walton Beach, so I'm sure it was really churching there!!!!

Diane, I have been in Florida for about 8 years and it seems every couple years we have a blast of hurricanes that come through. I am a little wary of Ike. I didn't take Hanna seriously.

I know the pain...I moved to Corpus Christi, TX about 10 years ago from New Orleans, La and before that I lived on the Mississippi gulf coast...  I have defiantly seem my share of hurricanes!  I don't want to speak to soon because I am still right here on the coast, I have family and friends in Fl. Alabama, Ms. and La.  so I hate to see a new storm start churning out there no matter where it's headed.   I will also be glad to see this season done and over with....take care!

Hello everyone:  Thank you all for stopping by.  I guess no matter where you live, there will always be something to worry about.  I am thankful that Ike is passing us by, but I don't want it to hit anywhere else either.

Hello Dianne - Ceil has been in contact with her friends in Key West and throughout Florida; they have something called Conch Telegraph where they all keep in contact with each other. Seems everyone has made it through pretty good.

Now it looks like Ike is going to hit Texas. Our son left this evening to board up his house in Rockport Texas and to help his uncle board up and head north. We will get some weather here, probably winds, rain and maybe tornadoes. Will start moving things in tomorrow that could fly around. Let 's just hope allot of the oil rigs are damaged too badly to cause shortages. The busses left today to start bringing people from the coast into San Antonio and surrounding area. Three of our schools are going to close to house some of the people. Doesn't look good.

Glad your safe and thanks for letting us know.
