Would I not need to go in and assign individual tags for the site? The text is going to be different for each page anyway and not match the tags in first place.

I have a feeling that point2 just automatically puts them in there as a make-do measure.

I'll ask because I'm not sure how point2 works. Keyword density is just as important in SEO and they have to match your keywords or tags.

Can anyone out there confirm this?

Yes, you have to go in and change that yourself.  It is pretty easy to do and you can assign keywords, etc. that fit each page.

Paul, as others have commented and you have observed, yes, Point2's database system just sticks some content into your tags. However, no need to worry about re-writing the meta keyword tag; none of the major search engines have read them since 2002. (The only exception that I know of is that if you make up a non-existent nonsense word and put it in a meta keyword tag, then search Yahoo for your nonsense word, Yahoo will find it.)

The keywords in your title tag and on-page content are most important. You may find this article helpful.
