Who could be more iconic of the late 70's to mid 80's excesses than Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong? With there big screen debut in 1978's Up In Smoke, the duo not only struck gold but were about to become the pioneering faces of a new genre, the stoner flick. Now do not get me wrong, I am not endorsing drug use, this is merely the type of films that Cheech and Chong are known for.

From the early 70's through today, Cheech and Chong have compiled an impressive body of work including numerous movies, soundtracks, television, and stand up comedy credits. They even won a Grammy Award in 1973 for Best Comedy Albumn entitledĀ "Los Cochinos." This comedy pair have have not toured together for almost 25 years. This comedy drought is coming to an end as the pair have decided to bring their brand of humor to a who new generation.

On Friday, September 5th, Cheech and Chong kick off their "Light Up America And Canada" tour with a performance at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Ontario. The schedule steamrolls right up through New Year's Eve where they will perform in historic Radio City Music Hall in New York City! The pair will have a grueling 46 scheduled dates throughout the United States and Canada. Rich, I wonder if even Cheech &  Chong ever thought they would be at Radio City.  I'm surprised they're still around myself, I didn't know.

Chris - They definitely have their own unique and hysterical brand of humor. Cassette play, sounds pretty futuristic to me, I would have expected an eight track! <<<smile>>>

Carole - It is incredible considering how far they have come. I wonder the same thing when I hear of non-mainstream standup and musical acts performing at such a legendary venue.

I wasn't into them when they were popular...but I really like Cheech Marin as an actor. I miss catching him on Judging Amy

Joan - It does seem that Cheech has really pursued acting away from the typical way most of us picture him. I remember laughing at their movies when I was a teen because they were so over the top; though I must say much of the humor at that time went over my head.

Cheech, Cheech, Cheech, Cheech, Cheech, Cheech, Cheech, Cheech We all loved him after they broke up in his many adventures. He even had a stint on the Golden Girls Show. Chong wasn't quite as lucky until That's 70's came along.

They were definitely something in their time.  I now have to go see if I still have their LPs.  I still have a working turntable.  Should be interesting.
