Didn't want anyone to miss this great comparison post by Simon.  Why the difference, it sure seems like a double standard

Karen Anne Stone and I rarely agree, but we are always respectful of each others views. So it is because of her blog about Chelsea Clinton that I am writing this.

We all know about the hypocrisy of the news media, but sometimes they go so far over the line it almost defies belief.

So imagine if you will that a few years from now Ms Clinton decides to run for office. Let's assume she will be running as a Democrat. And then let us go further and say that her Republican opponent is a man and he dismisses her abilities with the words "well she is good looking".

I wonder how many times a day and how many days of a week would be devoted to that comment? I wonder how badly the author of such a phrase would be slammed in the media? I wonder if her currently ficticious opponent could even survive to continue his run?

And yet, here we have the Democrats' VP candidate saying that about the Republican woman running against him and it is hard to find a word on it, nevermind an outcry.

The double standard is what gets me.

You decide!

Steve, I missed this when Simon wrote it so thanks for the re-blog. I must say I had not been thrilled about McCain as our nominee. I know you have been for him all along but I thought I was going to have to hold my nose and vote. He has totally turned me around; this pick was brillant!! She has all the conservative vaules I love and the more I hear from him the more comfortable I am becoming.
