Rarely are the Sellers or Sellers' agent at inspections with me, but every occasionally I really, really, really wish they were so I could pick their minds about what they were thinking when they did what they did. The following picture shows one such instance:

Dryer and water heater

That's the dryer flue connected to the water heater burner chamber and sealed with all-purpose duct tape. I guess if you can't make clothing out of the dryer lint, well, at least you can use it for fuel.

There were many things wrong here, but there is one thing that definitely is right, and that's having a fire extinguisher right there at the ready.

This is crazy. What was the purpose of this?? Or may I say what was the sellers reason for this?

Russel you have some great stories. I wonder if their water smelled better? Homeowners are a creative bunch, that's for sure.

Russel, for the life of me I don't understand why they haven't figured out a way to connect the car exhaust to that contraption too!

Did seller actually believe that the hot air from the dryer would save him money?  I wonder just how many times they've had to use that extinguisher.

Well, long as they used duct tape it probably is swell. Just swell.

Russel, you are right...that IS wrong.  They should have used rigid vent pipe and NOT the flex-duct!

Oh my gosh - what the ... - were they thinking? I wonder if there was a party nearby and the partiers threw in some recommendations and the sellers went for it! ~Rita
