I have to thank Elaine Manes -Colorado Stager  for inspiring me to do some artwork again.

Elaine recently wrote a blog - titled You've GOT to be kidding !!! I Want Some Of That !   She was floored by the high cost of artwork and decided she would paint some of her own art for home staging.  WOW, she did a beautiful triptych of aspen trees.

I agree with Elaine that these canvas paintings are perfect for staging projects. Portable, light weight, inexpensive and fun to do !

As most of you know, I love anthing creative and it's been a while since I have painted anything artsy SO I was very happy to be inspired by Elaine.

Finally, I had the chance this past weekend to try a canvas for this bedroom. My inspiration was the rug and believe me I KNOW this is NOT even close to Elaine's gorgeous work but I will keep trying.. I have a triptych in mind next !!

The rug in the photo does not "read" as blue as it appears in person..

A close up of my "Blue Leaves" art.    Thanks Elaine and be kind, please ;-) !!

I LOVE it!  I'd buy it, the colors are all me.  Great job!  Can't wait to see more... and as I asked Elaine, when will we see your work for sale?

I'm not a stager but I do paint large canvases with blocks of color and hang them in my vacant listings, there are fun to paint and you can get lost in the creativity of it.

Cheryl ~ Before I even got to that part in your post, I noticed the rug and how it went so well. Reading further, now I know why!  I think you did a great job!  Very creative of you!  I envy you artist types! : )

Hey Chris, You are just too sweet !! I truly appreciate it.. I think that I am like Elaine in that WHEN do we find time to do art - I have been trying for a while.. I painted and sold tons of vinyl floor cloth rugs while I was working full time, did the same thing one year with painted sweatshirts - just have to put my mind to it.. Go ahead, get me some orders and I will paint all night :-) God bless and thanks again.

Looks good! We've done some of the same kind of DIY paintings here in Milwaukee for our Showhomes staging.  My wife also did some pencil art of dragonflies that looks great, they were used for staging while we were Home Managers and now they're just beautiful decoration for the bathroom in our home.

When I was a teen, I went to HS with a boy whose dad was a builder.  He would 'let' us kids paint (splatter) rather large canvas to hang in the foyer of his model homes.  It was fun, wonder if the new owners ever figured out it was teens being goofy.  be good  cw

Cheryl- LOL!!! Oh dear, let's call it inexpensive art! There's nothing cheap about it. And, I've got news for you--ninety five percent of the population can't do what you did! I think it's wonderful, and talk about customizing the artwork to match the rug! Beautiful job, Cheryl! I think you have graduated from crafter!

Cheryl - good for you for taking the initiative - and saving lotsa $$$.  Truly looks great, and tones down the potentially fussiness of the bed.  Great mix - Julie

Hi Cheryl, Are you for hire? Michelle M. has inspired me to try my hand painting... but I don't any kind of background with paint. (Other than painting walls, and I have plenty of experience with that).  Thanks for sharing it looks great!

Elaine, Gee thanks !! I KNOW the golden rule about NOT calling something cheap, I almost always say "inexpensive" but thought Cheap probably was better for the title ???? I thank the Lord for any ability that He has given me and thanks for promoting me from crafter LOL !! God bless - you are the best !!

Just gorgeous. I am so jealous. I, unfortunately, can not draw or paint at all. Completely hopeless, but my husband and daughter are amazing. A few years back I had a room that was three stories high and the homeowner need a very large piece of art for over the fireplace. I gave my husband a pear and a dish for the background and in a few hours he made  a frame, put some old canvas on it and painted this. It's now leaning on my wall in my living room. At least someone in my family has artistic talent! Kym

Great painting job!  I too loved Elaine's blog and think about it often.  I just still haven't gotten the guts to try it yet. :)

Just wondering... what were the cost and time involved in making this Great Masterpiece?

Hi Janice, Go ahead, try it, you will be hooked.. I would be painting all the time if I could find the extra time because practice does help.. The canvas was less than $10, I think and it took me a couple hours although that was because I had to find my paints, etc.. I also, always seem to keep looking at it and adding paint.. ;-) God bless,

Very nice touch. When you do a canvas drawing for a client, do you ever give it to them? I also think that Cheryl's idea of covering a canvas with fabric is excellent too.

You did a wonderful job!  I, too, love to do anything crafty, so I know how satisfied you felt completing and hanging that painting.  There is no feeling like it!  I am my happiest when I'm working on a creative project, I could get lost in it for days.

Your painting is gorgeous!  When we can paint our own pic's it not only saves us money, but it makes our staging projects more unique!  Here's one of my children's room painting attempts.  Keep the laughing to a minimum, please!

Oh it is AWESOME. I love the canvas large art. I have found some GREAT ones, in Walmart, believe it or not. That was about a year ago, they are just not to be found anymore. I wish I could paint, but I cannot even draw stick figures
